I woke up to my mom shaking me, "Wake up you lazy bum!"
"WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" I jolted up like a mad man.
My mom's eyes went wide and she crossed her arms, "We're going on vacation."
I laughed. "Yeah right," And pulled the covers over my head, trying to go back into my deep slumber.
My mom yanked my blankets off of me, "Vida! I'm not kidding!"
When I didn't reply she marched out of my room, but two seconds later she came back in and threw something on my bed.
"Those are pictures of where we are going to," She crossed her arms.
I picked up the papers and looked at this beautiful log cabin, and this huge lake, "Where is this at? It's beautiful."
"You'll find out when we get there. Pack enough stuff to hold you over for two weeks. We leave at midnight," She announces and leaves my room.
I whisper to myself, "What the fuck."
I grab my phone to check the time. It's one in the afternoon. I jump out of my bed and dig through my messy closet as an attempt to find my suitcase. When I find my suitcase, I unzip all of its compartments. I figure I would pack all of the easy stuff first, so that I know how much time I have to pick out my clothes.
I run across the hall to my bathroom and open one of the cabinets, finding my huge tolietry bag. I put my tooth brush, toothpaste, hair brush, and things of that nature inside. But then I remember I haven't brushed my teeth or hair today and have to unpack, and repack it all after I do the necessary.

I finished packing at 11 PM. I plop down onto my bed and grab my phone. I have three texts. Two are from Carrie, and the other is from a random number.
Carrie! (3:27 PM) : I'm leaving tommorow.. Want to sleepover?
Carrie! (8:00 PM) : Are you ignoring me?
345-564-8976 (7:42 PM) : Can't wait to see you tomorrow morning...
WHAT THE HECK?!
My first thought was to text this weird number back, but I figured I better explain myself to Carrie.
Me (11:07 PM) : I wasn't ignoring you... I was packing all day for a trip. I have no clue where I'm going but my mom told me we're leaving at midnight.. Sorry.
Carrie! (11:12 PM) : Is your vacation more imoportant than your best friend?
Me (11:13 PM) : I never said that?! I literally found out at one pm, what was I supposed to do? Sleepover at your house for the first time in two months just because you're leaving me to go to college? Is your home college more important than your "best friend"?
I cannot believe i just sent that. I decided I needed to cool off, so I put my phone on the charger and went to the kitchen to make a last minute snack. I grabbed some Cheese Its and poured way to many into a zip lock baggie. I waltzed back to my room and put them inside my tribal print bookbag from some African store downtown.
"Vida! Get all your things together!" My dad shouted from the bathroom.
I stood up, sighed and took my heavy, overpacked suitcase out to the Jeep. I sat it down on the ground near the trunk and ran back inside. I am actually really excited to be going on this trip with my loved ones. We haven't been on a real vacation since I was eight. I wonder why now?
I grabbed my phone, phone charger, computer, computer charger, a book called The Giver, and my headphones. I shoved them all into my bookbag, except for my phone, and quickly grabbed a pillow and my fuzzy grey blanket. I took a water bottle from the kitchen, and was the first person inside the car.
Since I was an only child, I got the whole backseat to myself,a nd since there were only three of us, none of the luggage had to go where I sat.I propped my pillow onto the car door, and stretched my legs onto the seat. I was not following the law, and kept my seatbelt off. I covered with my cold body with my warm blanket. I didn't realize how tired I was, but when I closed my eyes, I quickly fell fast asleep.
