There is a flag that waves in my chest
My breath the breeze that makes it sway
Unfurling over my heart where the colors bleed
Spilling over and dyeing my veins
Blue pink white pink blue
And that tinted life reaches out to my body
Blending with my thoughts in new shades
Black gray white green white gray black
And these colors become a new flag
One that feels warm and safe
A blanket I can sleep in
Colors that fit just right against me
Against some deep and untouched part of me
My fingers curl around it and it feels so nice
These colors that tint my being
I grip it tight now, holding it close
This flag
This representation of part of me
A part that for so long I didn't understand
A part that most still don't
And I won't let it go
Their hate can't pry it from my hands
This is my banner
It bears my name
It won't stay hidden for your comfort
Look at it! See it!
See me!
