Two more hours until he gets back home. Two more hours until he sees what I have done for him. I organized a private feast at our chambers, I just felt like tonight we needed a different setting to enjoy our meal.
The maids had adorned our room with scented candles, flowers, fruits, a boar- yesterday's catch at the hunt- wines, juices, potatoes and desserts. That was all we needed, a warm meal on a cold chilly night.
While they organized their finishing touches on the room, I soaked my hair in lavendar and enjoyed a sweet rose bath. I just had to glow for him tonight.
My hair was arranged in small curls framing my face and a long fishtail braid hanging on my side. I chose a white dress, one that was loose, simple and yet beautifully made.
"Madam" a small girl entered the room. She bowed slightly to me and presented me with her news. "Master Lionel is here"
"So soon? He was not supposed to arrive for yet another half hour. I hope he did not see any of the arrangements."
She smiled. "Do not worry my Lady. He seemed too tired to notice anything. He walked straight to the bath and ordered a hot meal from me. We did not light the candles as yet, so maybe that is why. Would you like us to light them now?"
"Yes. Please do so quickly my dear. And when you do so, you may go. Thank you."
And so it was done: all of the candles were lighted and the mildly sweet aroma of the wax filled the air. Everything was perfect.
Just then, Lionel walked into our chambers once again, still dryin himself from the water on his skin.
He looked at me amongst all of the candlelights and smiled lazily. "How lucky I am to have a wife as beautiful as you." He gazed around the room noticing the small changes. "What is all this? I hope that I did not become a lousy husband and forget something important. Is it your birthday? No, that is next month I believe. Right?"
"Shhhh. You look so tired my dear. Come sit. You look like you deserve a hot meal. I just felt like doing someyhing different tonight. And you are right about my birthday."
I sat beside him and gently massaged hos shoulders whilst he eat. I assume that he was very grateful for my soothing hands on his aching musles because he began to feed both him and I.
After he cleaned his plate, he sleepily laid his head on the bed. He tossed and turned, not seeming to get the right spot. I held in my laughter.
"What is wrong with this bed." He complained.
"What do you mean? I just had the cases restuffed this morning (pillows)"
"Who stuffed this case! This is not comfortable at all." He tried to open the case to see what was the fault but ended up ripping it instead. Inside the feathers and cotton, deep inside, a small little carved horse. He studied the wooden carving with great interest.
"Why is this-" he began.
I rushed to interrupt him. "I was talking to your mother one day and she gave me this horse" I said whilst holding it up, admiring it. "Well made isn't it? That is what I thought as well. She told me a story about this little horse. It is about an anxious little boy who wanted to be as skilled as a Knight with a sword and as handy with a horse."
"His mother told him that he is too young to fight with swords and his father told him that maybe he can begin with horses. He told him that you have to be one with the horse in order to fully control one without fear. A knight has to be one with his horse and focus on his opponents. The little boy wanted to learn how to be one with a horse so that he can grow into a great knight someday. But still, he was too young to mount a horse on his own, even a pony was too big for the little lad."
"The next day, his father did not hear him, nor see him and he became concerned. He found him in his room sulking over what he was told. That good man came to him the next day and gave him this horse. His mother told him that from today you will be one with this little horse, tomorrow you will be one with another my little knight."
Lionel smiled at my story and observed the horse. "I recognize this. I cannot believe that I forgot about him in all these years."
"It was good hearing such nice story about you."
"One thing I do not understand about this situation. Why did my mother give this to you and why was this in this case? Did you ask mother for it?"
I shook my head no. "She gifted it to me this morning. She gave me this horse as a memory to your past and for you to change this very story for your future"
He stared at me blankly. "I am not understanding"
"She gave me this for you to change the story Lionel, for soon it will be you giving this very horse to another anxious child. Another child will hold this very horse and become one with it."
The look that he gave me next moved me. As he realized what I had just told him he was overwhelmed with enotions. He grabbed me lightly and raised me above him on the bed.
"Are you really pregnant?" I nodded beaming. "Oh Bella I have been waiting on this day for so long." He hugged me and kissed me sweetly on my cheeks.
That night we celebrated the good news full of passion and happiness. I slept in his arms knowing that I will love this man in all my years to come. Forever till death do we part.
As promised guys I uploaded the last chapter! I hope you enjoyed it. This is my very first book and I must say, writing a book isn't that easy. Maybe I will try to write again but for now this book has ended and I am glad that I finally closed it off.
