It's a Sunday. My mum and dad planned for me and Hayden to go on a family day trip today! Not fun.
Before I get into the detail of that horror story, let me introduce myself. My name is Emma Waters, full name Emma Elizabeth Waters and I have one brother called Hayden Waters, and to be honest, he is the only person in this world who I actually care about, oh and my parents, they mean the world to me to but Hayden the only best friend I have. We are literally inseparable.
Anyway, today on Monday 12th November, on a cold winters morning in England, we have decided to go on an outside trip.
"Em, are you getting out of bed!" my Mums familiar tone shouts up the stairs.
I roll over and look at my alarm clock. 6:15am. Seriously.
I heave myself up out of bed and shout back, "I'm out mum!"
I pick up my phone and walk to the bathroom whilst scrolling through updates on twitter, not that I have much to look at.
I'm home schooled. I used to go to a school, but something happened, and now I don't go anymore. I was a 14 year old, I had no sense in me then, it was a mistake.
I have a quick shower, and wrap the towel round me. I then go and check the time again. 6:30. I go back into the bathroom, brush my teeth, dry my hair and put a tiny amount of mascara on my eyelashes. I then put my baggy tshirt and some leggings and boots on, and of course a jacket, and head downstairs.
As I'm tucking into my breakfast, my mum and dad both come in. I can feel there stares burning through my skin.
"What?" I say in a harsher tone than I intended.
Hayden then walks in and sits next to me.
"Your dad and I just want to say that this is going to be our last family outing in Devon, so we would like you both to make the most of it". My mum says.
"And why would you say that?" Hayden replies.
"Because, your dad has got a new job in Australia."
I almost spit out my cereal.
"Australia!" I splutter
"Yes, me and your mum have been talking about it. We cannot have you taking home schooled tutoring forever, it costs fees Emma, and we think that Australia would be a fresh start for you and Hayden. Plus, work offered me a much better opportunity, and it could change our lives! I will earn more money, and your social lives will change. You will have more friends, and you will be your own person again." My dad says.
"We know it will be hard, very hard for you both, but this is for me and your dad too. We have already bought a house and we will be moving there in two weeks, I hope you both are okay with this, it will be a big boost to your confidence aswell."
"Mum, dad, I don't know what to say! I feel excited, nervous, mixed emotions. Thank you for this, it gives me another chance in life!" I suddenly say and jump up to hug my parents.
"Thanks mum, and dad, this is gonna be different!" Hayden then says, joining the hug.
"We'd better get going on our trip then! we can talk about this later." my mum says before we walk out of the kitchen, into the frosty air.
