We were really doing this. My body was running on pure adrenaline and I couldn't wait to get the cash I needed. Our last big job for sure, then after this, I could start a new life. Just a few more blocks and..
"FOCK!"
Ethan slammed the breaks and slammed his head down in pure agony. He was squinting his left eye, the one with the 8-ball hyphema*. He covered his face with his hands and groaned , in constant pain.
(*Hyphema: a pooling or collection of blood inside the anterior chamber of the eye (the space between the cornea and the iris). The blood may cover most or all of the iris and the pupil, blocking vision partially or completely. A hyphema is usually painful. If left untreated, it can cause permanent vision problems.)
"Hyphema bothering you again?"
"Mate, what the hell does it look like? Fockin' sunshine got right into my eye and it hurts so fockin' bad. More than that beating that gave me this eye. And I can't FOCKIN' get this SHIT treated so I'm stuck with it." Ethan let out an agitated moan escape his lips, as he dramatically pointed at his injured eye.
"You want me to drive, partner?" I didn't really care, he's had this hyphema for a year or so now. I just wanted to get to the bank ASAP. I wanted to get this over with.
"No, no. I'm fine." Ethan squinted his left eye and frowned. "We're about close anyways. Gotta get used to this shit someday anyways." He kept his eye squinted and sighed.
Ethan hit the gas pedal again, and that's when I realized we were only a few minutes away from the bank. I looked out the window, seeing all the trees, other cars and people walking by. After this.. I could be one of these people. I could be normal again, I could find someone and create my own family. My own kids. Yeah, that sounds about right. Ethan made a sharp turn and nearly knocked me out the damned window. It made for an awkward pose, 'cause the sharp turn knocked me over right on top of Ethan. Ethan let out a chuckle and didn't say anything. Ethan smiled and mumbled something under his breath but I couldn't hear what he said, so I shrugged that off.
"Ethan, man, you trying to kill me or something?" I got off of Ethan and sat back in my seat. Ethan said nothing. Then suddenly, we were there. Ethan parked behind the bank and he turned to look at me."Ready, Taras?"
"Hell yeah, partner." My heart started racing. Adrenaline pumped throughout my whole body, I was so excited that I could feel the blood flow through my veins. My ears were ringing and my eyes gleamed with excitement. My chest was pumping, my legs were shaking and my mind was constantly going on, thinking about the future.
Time to go.
I grabbed my gun from my waistband and opened the car door. I stepped out, looking at the shadow towering over me that said 'BANK'. I let out a sigh and rubbed my hands together, shivering. It was winter, after all. I stepped closer until I got to the glass doors, took a deep breath and kicked the door open, instantly shattering the glass.
"EVERYONE DOWN!" I put my gun up and shot the ceiling as warning, the sound of the ring that the gun let off echoed throughout the room.
The alarm instantly turned on, leaving the room a bright red with an annoying loud ringing. Everyone screamed and scurried to the corner, lied down and put their hands behind their head. It was as if this wasn't the first attempt at robbing this bank, they already knew the drill. I'll be honest, this has never been the way I wanted my life to be. However, this is the only way I can survive, or at least, the only way I was taught to. I don't want to hurt people willingly, unless I have a reason to, but that's not what the cops think.
