As soon as Choco settled down, Nat piped up once again, speaking in a hushed tone, "Len, Luna, Toki, and I have been planning to escape to the HQ of the Anti-Knights, that's what the rebels call themselves." Nat paused for a moment and his face lit up in realization, "Ah! Have we ever told you guys about the people in the AK who manage the Kampers and everything that goes on out here?" Looking around, he motioned towards Len, "I'll let Len explain, since she knows more about this than I do." Len's eyes glistened in admiration as she began to fill us in on who these figures are, "Oh! Oh! I love hearing all the stories about this. Okay, so as it turns out, these two have never actually been seen in person, maybe those who do don't live to tell the tale. Their real names are Jasmine Blanche and Iris Noire. But everyone refers to them as Lady Blanche and Lady Noire, they have kept watch for the past 40 years. It's also rumored by the older people that they were also the founders of the Anti-Knights. But they were forced to turn themselves in, to protect the rebels when their base was under attack by the AK... In any case, we should be weary of them, I hear that they're ruthless." I couldn't help but notice that both Jas and Siri seemed a little irked as Len was talking about the two who controlled the outside.
I shrugged it off as Nat began to go over our escape plan, "Apparently, Toki has already prepared the escape vehicle. I've figured out the location already, by word of mouth. If we work quickly, we should be able to escape in at least two weeks time." Everyone huddled around Nat, nodding as he spoke. Excitement filled the eyes of everyone at the table. Were we really going to be able to live a peaceful life? Finally, after all this time? Nat's husky voice interrupted my thoughts, "If you want to back out, you'll have to do it now." Not one person moved, everyone held their breaths in anticipation. Nat continued, "Since there are more people now, we should be able to escape faster than we originally expected." He paused for a dramatic effect, "Ok so here's the plan...two people will distract the guards, they will map out their schedule while Toki prepares the escape vehicle, and the rest of us will continue their daily routine as usual to throw off any suspicion." Everyone nodded eagerly, content with the plan. Curious as to who was doing what I spoke up, "So who's going to do what? I mean I know that Toki is going to drive, but who will distract the guards?" My questions were soon answered by Jas and Siri speaking together in unison, "We shall volunteer," Their voices morphing into a single, chilling, robotic tone, Siri continued, "After all, we are quite informed about security procedures." Her monotonic voice rang through our ears. Sensing my level of discomfort, Jas reassured the group, "Ahaha, sorry about that, it's a bad habit of mine and Siri's to pretend we are telepathic twins..." She trailed off, shining her pearly whites while letting out an awkward laugh.
Nat quickly gathered the group's attention again, "Okay guys, is everyone clear on the plan?" He paused for answers, satisfied by the nodding of heads, he continued again, "Today is, October the 13th, 2115, if we carry out this plan perfectly, we should be able to arrive at the HQ on the 28th." I nodded in excitement with everyone else, looking forward to the day in which we would bring our plan into action.
A week and a half, have finally passed, and it was now the night of the escape. My heart was pounding in my ribs, beating faster and faster with excitement. I played my role, going about my day as if I never had the intention of leaving, along with everyone else who acted out their parts perfectly. According to the script we all wrote together, today was the day of the performance, I smirked, it's showtime.
I wonder how Jas and Siri are? I hope they were able to execute their plan without any major conflicts. An abrupt noise invaded my thoughts, my train of thought derailing. I heard a loud bang, as if heavy metal was thrown across a dry field, clattering along the dehydrated ground. Worried, I left my spot in the dinner line, making my way towards the source of the sound. I halted to a stop as I witnessed Jas's muscular yet slender legs swinging at an inhuman speed, as her lean legs made contact with a guard, as an audible disturbing crack resounded throughout the cafeteria. Jas gracefully danced throughout the cafeteria, weaving in and out, knocking out guards along the way. It was as if she were a prima donna, and the battlefield was her stage. Not long after, another ear shattering noise echoed on the opposite side of the large room. I quickly turned my head just in time to see Siri knock out a guard unconscious, slinging his limp body over her shoulders effortlessly. "Hey Jas! Batter up!" Siri called out and proceeded to throw the guard straight towards Jas as if he were a baseball. Jas turned around and caught sight of the guard's body mid-flight. With one swift motion, she sent the poor guard flying with a roundhouse kick, his body folding over as he made contact with her leg. Jas and Siri were fighting machines... How did they possess such outrageous inhuman strength?
After witnessing the disturbing fight scene between Siri, Jas, and the guards, I was relieved to see them casually making conversation with Nat at the car. I shifted my eyes, wearily looking back and forth at Jas and Siri, deciding not to bring up what I had witnessed in the cafeteria earlier. Now that everyone was here, we all began to ascend into the truck. It was great, the escape was successful, the feeling of relief washes over me as I glance around seeing the same expression on everyone's faces. Toki's gentle voice slices through the peaceful silence, "Hey, I'm glad you all made it out alive, I was starting to get worried, hahaha." He let out a hearty chuckle that was soon followed by the laughter of everyone, "Ahahaha, ahehehe, honhonhon, AHAHA, YES WE MADE IT!!" The voices of everyone drowned out the eerie laughter of Siri and Jas.
I woke up to the familiar feeling of the sun burning my skin, my eyes felt as if they were glued shut. Struggling for a moment, I finally got them to open, revealing everyone's peaceful sleeping faces surrounding me. At least I thought that everyone was asleep, until I meet the blank gaze of Siri. I smiled at her, expecting her to scowl in return. Instead, I was struck with surprise seeing her sharp raven blue eyes soften as she returned a tender smile. Her red, rosy lips uncurled as fast she had curled them, the smile was so brief that if I had blinked, I would've missed it. This smile, however was unlike any other, it was genuine and natural, making her appear to be out of character, as she was known to be quite monotone. Maybe she'll smile more, now that we are on our way to living a peaceful life. Perhaps I had misunderstood her rude introduction? Smiling to myself, I challenged myself to break down her walls.
