Night Sky

The letter

"Keely there is a letter in the mail for you." Mum yells out from down stairs. I rush down stairs thinking it would be a letter from my best friend. I take the envelope out of my mum's hand and rush up stairs with it. On the envelope left hand corner it has a picture of 3 tents in a circle and above the triangle tent is the word Night Sky. It must not be from Ava then

I open the envelope wondering who the hell wrote this letter to me. I open the envelope and it had a letter inside with what I think could be a room key. I opened up the letter and started reading what it says.

Dear Keely Johnson

You have been invited to Night Sky camp for a year at the most. You will meet people along the way and you will make friends too. This camp is for you to learn more about yourself and other people like you. There will be classes where you would be doing normal school work, so you don't fall behind.

We would like to see you tomorrow at white forest in the morning.

I was in shock I didn't know what to think. I got invited to like a school camp that I have never heard of before. How am i going to tell my parents let alone my best friend Ava. Maybe I don't have to tell my parents i can drive but they did say in the letter i will be there for a year at most. So I will have to tell my parents whether I like it or not. I have to tell Ava first she's my best friend and I can't let her think that I will be avoiding her for a year seeing i will be at this camp. What camp goes for a year at the most like seriously.

I grab my phone out of my pockets in my shorts. I start dialling Ava's number seeing it wouldn't be a good idea to just text what's actually going to happen tomorrow. Seeing I'm most likely ditching her at school for the next year for some camp. She then finally answers her phone.

"Keely?"

"Yeah Ava there is something I need to tell you." I have no idea how to tell her I can't see my life  without her yet I'll be going to be at a different school than her. 

"Yeah I need to tell you something also but you first."

"I will be gone for a year starting tomorrows if parents let me. I will be at camp for a year if they let me." I don't know whether I'm more nervous telling my parents about the news or finding out Ava's reaction to the news. 

"Congrats and I guess I will see you there because I was about to tell you the same thing!"

Wait a minute Ava is going to the same camp as me like what are the odds of that even happening. 

"Congrats to you too but now I have to tell my parents so talk later."

"Bye Keely."

OH MY GOD, Ava is going to the camp also at least I will know someone there. Why or how did we get a similar letter maybe she knows a bit more about the camp then I do but I have to still talk to my parents which I'm not really looking forward to because I don't know what they will say. I ran down stairs and see my mum cooking. I just have the letter in my hand second guessing myself whether I should tell my mum about this but you only live life once.

"Mum, do you have a second?" I say hoping that mum is able to talk for about 5 minutes to discuss about this camp."Yeah sure, what's going on?"

"Mum I got a letter from a camp called Night Sky and I have to be there tomorrow for a year at the most am I able to go?" I ask Mum really nervous about what she would say but I guess the only bad thing that can happen is her saying no. " Yeah you can go, I went to that camp when I was about your age. It's a great school and your going to meet amazing people there and that's how I met your dad." Mum said and I gave her a big hug. My Mum and Dad both went to this camp but what is this camp and does this mean Ava's parents went to the camp to. I ran upstairs and grabbed my phone to text Ava about tomorrow.

Text message with Ava

Me: Hey x Did you want me to pick you up tomorrow when we go to camp and I just found out my parents met at this camp.

Ava: Hey yeah should be fine and OMG that's so cool, my parents have no idea what sort of camp this is they haven't heard of it before. I don't think many people have. I even tried searching it but nothing came up.

Me: That is strange normally you can find anything by just searching it in google. I will ask my parents more about it and I will tell you any new information tomorrow.

I put my phone down on my bed as all of this starts to hit me. i'm gone for a year to a camp I don't really know anything about. I don't know what to expect it's a camp that no one has heard about unless been there themself or got the letter. I wonder how many people at my school actually got a letter. Why give us the letters now not when school started which was two terms ago.

I went in my closet and got out a black , pair of jeans from my draw  and a Nice long sleeve red top that didn't cover my whole stomach. Which is what I decided to wear tomorrow. I then got a big suitcase out of the closet to start filing it with clothes and shoes. I then zipped it up when it was full. I was about to pack my day pack until i realised it was already 10pm at night , so that has to wait til tomorrow.
