A/N: I know I didn't have this updated Friday. Sorry. -.- Anyway, the cover on the side was made by Dark-Shadow, hence the dedication. :) Check out the song on the side too. It's called "Soul Surfer" by Joseph Ramos, Kaleo Demello, and Branscombe Richmond. I encourage you to listen to it while reading to get into the "mood". haha.
Enjoy the first one-shot, and don't forget to comment, vote, share, etc. :)
Chapter One: A Surfing Struggle
Bridget pushed the board between her legs and began paddling past the crash line.
"That's it Bridget," Bo yelled, encouraging her on. He was trying to teach her to surf, and, even though he felt she had no chance of actually being able to surf, she was paying him. "Now, get up to your knees," he yelled at her once she was passed the point where the waves broke.
He saw her struggling to get up to her knees, and then he motioned at her to get up to her feet. She couldn't do it and wiped out more than once. Bo laughed and began paddling towards her.
It was strange; this girl just appeared a few days ago saying that she wanted to learn to surf. She wasn't a tourist, yet she wasn't from around here. Bo would have known if she was from around here; he knew everyone.
Needless to say, he agreed to teach her, and she left without another word. Now, they were on their second lesson, and Bridget was actually going to try catching a wave.
Bo made it to her, and helped her get up. She had wiped out once again and was sputtering. They had been going at this for a good two hours, and her one and a half hour lesson was over, but Bridget was determined to catch a wave.
Bo looked up into the sky. It looked like it was going to storm. He checked his water-proof watch. It was past five o'clock and a storm was brewing in the distance. Soon the waves would be over twenty feet high. It was a surfer's dream, but they were in Hawaii, so it was possible.
"Bridget," Bo yelled. "I think we should go in. It's gonna storm." Bridget looked up at the sky and grimanced.
"Darn it," she muttered, sitting up on her board. "I really wanted to catch one today."
"I know you did," Bo responded, his eyes casting hurried glances to the beach. "We should really get going, no one comes out during the storms." His eyes traveled back to the shore again and he saw Andrew and his gang run into the water with a whoop. "Except for them."
Bridget's eyes wandered to where Bo was looking. "Who are they?"
"They're stupid, now let's get going," Bo said, beginning to paddle in, and Bridget followed.
"Where you off to so quickly, Bo-bo?" Andrew smirked, paddling past Bo. Bridget looked over at Bo. She could tell that he was fuming. She then looked at the sky. The storm was still a way off, and she had a feeling that Bo wanted to show these punks what he was made of.
"Can we stay a little longer, Bo?" She whispered when Andrew was out of sight. "I still want to try to catch a wave," she paused. "And I know you want to kick his surfing butt." Bo smiled.
"Only a little longer, okay? It's dangerous out here for beginners." Bridget pretended to be offended.
"Me? A beginner?" Bo chuckled and began paddling out farther, while Bridget stayed where she was, trying to get to her feet.
"So, who's your girlfriend?" Andrew asked Bo as soon as he paddled within earshot.
"My girlfriend?" Bo scoffed. "She's just a chick who came to me to teach her to surf." Andrew glanced over at Bridget as she got wiped out by another wave.
