You know, watching water drip down from a faucet tap would be more interesting than this.

Standing at the back of the cashier, you are currently working morning shift in 'The Pastry Theater'. With worn-out wooden walls, soft warm lighting, cozy as hell couches and booths, and a strong smell of pine and pastries, it was a quaint coffee shop that just had a cabin comfort vibe worth coming back to - and you aren't saying that just cause you needed to promote the shop There's also a small stage at the side for anyone to perform whatever they like, whether it is spoken word or full-blown acting skits. Though what is boring you to death is that customers are basically nonexistent. But it's still 9 am, of course, no one would want to get out to the cold weather. And if they did, they probably went to the nearest Starbucks for the autumn drinks.

You yawn as you finally decide to listen to your body, closing your eyes and allowing sleep to engulf you completely. You slowly fall asleep on the countertop when a high-pitched squeal snaps you wide awake. Looking around for the squealing culprit, your eyes land on the little girl who practically is barrelling towards you.

You heave a tired sigh before smiling. "Good morning to you too, Lulu." You greet, holding out your arms for the young girl.

She runs into your arms, her blonde pigtails swishing back and forth, as she hugs you tightly. "(Your Name)! (Your Name)! My tooth came out!"Lulu grins to show off one gap where her front tooth should be.

"Congrats! How did it come out?" You ask and before you know it, she starts retelling the toothy tale. However, you can barely make out what she's saying so instead, you start focusing on trying to look like you were listening. Humming along and agreeing to everything she says, the other staff members notice this and start to laugh quietly. A cough suddenly interrupts Lulu and all eyes are now on the other person present.

"Lulu, can I borrow (Your Name)? You can go chat with Aunt Becky and Aunt Dawn if you want, they're in the kitchen." Her mom suggests.

Lulu's eyes glistens and nods enthusiastically. "I'll be right back, (Nick Name)!"

"See ya, kiddo." You put her down and she runs off, although waving goodbye to you before going into the kitchen.

"Okay, now c'mon (Your Name), there's a few of things I want to talk to you about." She calls and despite you feeling the heated stares on your back making you feel uncomfortable, you mumble a noise of agreement and follow her.

The two of you enter the break room and you are the first to break the silence. "Um, what is it, Miss Jenna?" You ask.

"I'll be real with you here. I've been noticing that you're working your ass off more than usual."

'Of course this was going to be what she wanted to talk about.' You think as you continue to listen.

"Whenever you have breaks, you use them to do more things like checking on the customers or cleaning other rooms. And from what Christine told me," You internally groan.

"Once you go home, you focus on finishing up assignments from school. I know you need the money and you also want to finish college. But you've been slowly sacrificing yourself because of that. We're all worried about you, honey..." She says, concern evident on her face as she fidgets with her yellow polka-dotted apron. You wanted to smack Christine right in the face at that very moment.

Christine Conigula is a close friend of yours and a regular customer of The Pastry Theater. You bonded over musicals, Broadway, and anything theater-related (Wow, who would've thought). Oftentimes, when you feel stressed and overwhelmed with your life, you would confide in her. Guess she thought things were getting so bad that she told Miss Jenna. Sweet gesture but if weren't for her, you wouldn't be here in front of a concerned Miss Jenna.
