Ashley's POV:
I sat staring up at the clouds as the insults rung in my ears, 'freak','loner', 'ugly, 'fat'. Sighing i looked around the clearing i was sitting in. it was a beautiful place i had found one day after running away from my pathetic life, the only sounds were the animals, wind and the waterfall splashing into the deep pool. It was my secret get away place and had been since i found it when i turned 10. My 16th birthday was the next day but I didn't care, no-one else would remember and even if they did they would only taunt me for not having a wolf. I was supposed to shift at the age of 9-12 but nothing happened so I was classed as a repulsive human that no-one would want. They even went so far as to say I was cursed to roam the earth forever alone with no mate to love me. Sighing I let my mind wander back to when my mum told me the story of mates.
*FLASHBACK*
"mummy what are mates?" i asked my face peering up at her with a pleading expression. my mother laughed a little and smiled down at me before she said " i guess if i don't tell you, you will just keep pestering me huh?" i grinned and nodded eagerly before she took a deep breath and started the story " There was once a beautiful woman who had an incredible power. She could change normal humans into powerful half creatures to help protect and look after her while she was on earth doing her duty's and making sure the plants and animals behaved as they should. As you know that woman was the moon Goddess and the creatures she created became like her own children for she loved them and took care of them should they be hurt. one day after returning to the moon palace a scuffle broke out between 2 of the strongest males as they fought for the love of a female. As the fight broke out the female watched the two fight and became upset it was over her and took her own life. Saddened by the events the moon goddess was forced to banish her children to the earth but so no more bloodshed happened she created a bond more powerful than any alpha-pack one. she carefully selected the perfect females and males for each of them and so the mate bond was created. But a while after a problem arose, one of the males mates was sleeping with a human and so he begged the moon goddess for a way to severe the bond between them for he couldn't forgive her for this most treacherous act. although she had thought they were the perfect match she agreed to cut the bond and so the rejection is around for that reason but it is only used in special cases nowadays because it is extremely painful to experience. So that none of her children are alone if they reject their mates for some reason she added second chance mates into the bond but to punish the female who went against the bond she decided that mates would not be just werewolves but could be humans as well." glancing up at her i let my face show the shock and my mum just smiled warmly and continued. "you don't have to worry about that though your mate will be a smart funny handsome young man who would do anything for you. he wont care what you look like he would love you with all his heart and he would do anything to make you laugh or smile. he will go through anything just to see your beautiful face hear you wonderful voice or feel your warm skin shooting sparks." i sighed dreamily as i thought of how amazing my mate would be but a thought stopped me in my tracks. "Mummy what if.. what if he rejects me? or worse he decided to accept me but still went around with other girls?" "look sweetie he wouldn't do that to you and if he did reject you then its his loss. As for messing around with other girls if he did that then me and your father would make sure that would stop straight away, or you could even reject him yourself if you wanted but that wont happen because you are gorgeous and anyone who doesn't see that is a fool." my mum whispered while stroking my cheek soothingly to stop me worrying."anyway lets get you into bed now you have a big day tomorrow and me and your dad have planned you something special. goodnight honey."
*END OF FLASHBACK*
Grimacing as i remembered what happened the next day i stood up, walked towards the pool and began to gulp down big handfuls of the cool water. Afterwards I just stood gazing at my reflection in the water; my short blonde hair was tangled and messy with bits of leaves and twigs stuck in it, while my green eyes were watery and red from all the crying i had been doing. Jolting back to reality I glanced around before I realised that i was late home. Grabbing my bag quickly, I began to run towards the pack house to clean the kitchen before the rest of the pack returned for dinner.
well this new story is hopefully going to be better than my others which i WILL update in time. (I'm currently working on the newest chapter for Loving You Is Suicide) so just be a little more patient i know iim being slow :P i also know how frustrating it is to have to wait for a new chapter so im extremly sorry for keeping you all waiting but keep an eye out for an update in the next few months (if not feel free to inbox me with messages telling me to hurry the fuck up XD)
