The trees smelled like spring, except it was Winter. I, Janice Tergey, was walking to Art Class when I suddenly heard a whistle. It was a very high-pitched squeak and I couldn't help but lookup at the trees. I chuckled as I saw a leaf flutter down. It looked barely frozen. I shivered in the chilly wind although I had a furry coat. I looked back at the leaf. It came from a bare tree. I wondered why the leaf was green with a tiny mix of blue. It didn't matter anymore since I was going to be late. I ran across the icy lake and almost slipped twice. I was going to be late, but luckily class was delayed and that meant I could keep watching leaves fall off trees. I heard a faint voice calling my name. I almost completely recognized the voice in a second. It was Cassandra, that pink-haired, make-up loving, basketball player, who is my best friend. I wanted to ignore her, but she then she would get red and mad. Slowly, but unwillingly I trudged over to her. I turned to have one last glance at the gliding leaf before meeting Cassandra. She giggled and pointed towards Art Class. It was closed. This disappointed me badly as I started to walk back home. Cassandra looked at me surprised. She ran in front of me and nodded disapprovingly as her dark brown eyes were shadowed by the rays of the sun. I knew she would never let me leave like that but it was worth a try. I tried to walk around her but Cassandra just blocked my path. While I ignored her lecturing I focused more on that leaf I saw earlier. I started to question where it had gone.
