Chapter 4

~Charlotte~

Rick could see my face lit up when we pulled up next to a red sports car.

“Holy crap.” I turn to look at Rick like he was Santa Claus. I then turn to Glenn, “I’m driving!”

“No, that’s unfair!”

“I called dibs. I am driving” I tell him

“Do you even have a drivers licence? How old are you?” Rick asks.

“I’m seventeen. And, no I did not have a drivers licence.” I sigh.

“Glenn, you drive.”

And then my hopes shatter.

Rick smashed the windows and the alarms started to go off. I was disappointed to not be driving the car, but at least I would be in the passenger seat. Won’t be the same experience, but it could feel similar.

I got in the passenger seat and Glenn started up the car and we drove off towards the store.

~

I told the group to go to the roll-up doors at the front of the store that was facing the street.

Glenn was having a blast, attracting the walkers. The speed of the car was so fast. I called at the walkers to get their attention, but I think the alarms were enough to get their attention.

“Woo!” Glenn screamed. “Come on. Come on. Get closer. Get closer.”

We pull up to the store in the sports car and manage to lure the majority of them away from the store. Thanks to us, Rick will have a chance to pull up in his truck and get the group.

Glenn manages to drive around the streets of Atlanta without crashing, I find a CD, not bothering what it is and put it in. The alarms keep on ringing and the wind blows through the car. I get to the highway and see the truck ahead of me.

I scream loud from the rush of the driving down the highway this fast.

“Whoo-hoo-hoo! Yeah-hoo-hoo!”

Never have I felt so alive.

~

We’re getting close to the camp, Glenn remembers the way. We’re so far ahead of the truck, the alarm keeps going on and on, bouncing off the mountains.

I wonder if the guys at the camp can hear this. My heart starts to slow down and the adrenaline stops running through my system.

“That was so fun!” I yell at Glenn, the wind makes it hard for us to hear anything.

“It’s something we probably won’t do again! So fucking cool.”

I spot the RV, with Dale looking through binoculars at the sports car that Glenn and I are in.

Glenn drives in and steps on the brakes, something I didn’t want him to do. I wanted the drive to continue, the wind blasting in my ears, my hair rushing around my face in a huge mess.

I get out of the car awkwardly as the people in our group start to gather round. Glenn jumps out and waves his arms and calls out, “Hello!”

“Holy crap. Turn that damn thing off.” Dale tells Glenn.

“I don’t know how.” Glenn says covering his ears, a smile still plastered on his face. Looking at him with the grin on his face makes me smile too.

Everyone is walking towards us. I remove my hands from my ears and her Shane bellowing at Glenn to pop the hood.

Then Amy comes along and starts asking me questions on her sister.
