"Cause I've been scared of crowded places

Come with me, I'll take you home"

- Crowded Places, Banks

Ella

After our breakfast date, as Harry had put it almost four days ago, we had been constantly in touch through text and the occasional phone call. Classes had started and as I was surprisingly going through with my vow to do better this semester, I was swamped with work that I was determined to get done. Graduating had become the ultimate goal; but I couldn't help but let my mind wander to the pair of green eyes I'd come to yearn for more than I'd like to admit.

Putting my laptop aside for the first time that night to the sound of my phone ringing, I rub my eyes in exhaustion before picking up my phone seeing Harry's name flash on it. Confused, I double check the time to see that it was definitely past two in the morning.

"Hey you," I greet, hearing the sound of a bass thumping in the background, realizing that he must have been at a party.

"Ella, baby," He slurs followed by a sniffle, confirming my theory about his whereabouts, a hint of something else in his voice that I couldn't put my figure on.

"Can you come pick me up? M' obviously like.. really drunk.. and I," He almost whispers before I could get a word in, followed by another sniffle.

"Just like.. want to see you, you know?" He adds.

"Course.. where are you?" Before he could reply, I was already up and on my feet and out the door, keys dangling in one hand, phone in the other.

When I pull up at the house, despite Harry's very drunken description, I was sure I was at the right one judging by loud music I could hear and the several screams echoing through the neighborhood. I shoot a text to Harry letting him know I was there, hoping I wouldn't have to go inside to get him, not in the mood to deal with any other drunken teenager besides the one I was here for.

A few minutes later, I see the tall lanky boy stumbling through the front door of the house, running a hand through his hair almost frustratedly looking around for me.

"Harry!" I yell after having rolled down the window, his head snapping towards me, a slight grin taking over his face as he walks towards me.

He opens the door to the passengers side, sliding in easily before he pulls my face in and plants an unexpected sloppy kiss on my cheek.  Although he reeked of alcohol, l lean in to him more, eventually ending up straddling his lap realizing how much I'd missed his touch. Through soft kisses peppered across my face, I look up and get a glance at his face, suddenly aware of the small cuts scattered over the expanse of his face.

"Hey, what happened to your face?," I ask, concern laced in my voice as I run my hands over the cuts gently, a hiss escaping his mouth.

"Doesn't matter," He murmurs still more focused on making up for the days we hadn't seen each other, his lips on any surface of my skin he could access.

"What do you mean.. of course it matters," I pull away at his nonchalant attitude towards the situation.

"Just got into some stupid fight.. s' nothing really," He reassures.

"Want me to drop you home or do you want to um," I hesitantly continue, "Come back to mine?," My need to aid to his injuries overpowers the nervousness though, as I bravely add on.

"Wanna clean those up.. take care of you," A frown etched on my face at the sight of the red marks on his pretty face.

"Course, my pretty baby, was hoping you'd ask," Harry's reply caused a breath of relief to escape me, a soft grin now etched on both our faces as I slowly slid off his lap and into the driver's seat taking us back to mine.

Harry

"You've got a bit of um.." I swipe my thumb across Ella's cheeks, noticing a spec of blood dried off, no doubt from when I was kissing on her back in the car. She scrunches up her nose in disgust, however, still more focused on making sure my face looks as pretty as it did before I got into this supposed fight. Her words, not mine.

Way less drunk now, perched up on her kitchen counter as she stood between my legs with a cotton pad between her fingers dabbing at my face, I found myself in awe at how beautiful she really is. Despite the occasional sting, the slight buzz of alcohol running through my veins kept the pain at bay and if we're being honest, everything about the girl standing in front of helped as a distraction as well.

"Okay.. almost done," Her voice speaks out after what seemed like an hour as she dabs at the corner of my eye one last time, discarding the piece of cotton before standing in front of me with her hands on either of my knees looking at me. Her eyes held exhaustion and my face seemed to fall at the realization that it must be pretty late and a wave of guilt washes over me for calling her to come pick me up. I place my arms around her waist, pulling her closer so that we were chest to chest, nose to nose.

"M' sorry, were you sleeping.. when I called?," I ask with a frown on my face.

"No.. was finishing up some work," She replies and although I was glad I didn't wake her, the fact that she still had to drive all the way to pick me up unsettles me in my almost sober state, my frown of concern still prominent.

"Hey, it's okay, don't worry about it," She speaks as if reading my thoughts, a small smile on her face.

"I'd do it again," She adds before tugging on my hand and leading me to what I assumed was her bedroom.

"Hmm.. eager aren't you baby," I tease snaking my arms around her waist, propping my chin up on her shoulder.

"Shut up.. just want to sleep.." She snaps playfully before getting out of my hold much to my dismay and crawling up the bed settling among the pillows. I follow suit, stripping down to my boxers, all the while feeling Ella's shy gaze on me making me smirk.

I repeat her actions crawling up the bed, laying down beside her and as if on instinct pulling her towards my body as I'd done many nights before, her body fitting perfectly in mine, limbs tangled, a sense of safety and comfort in our movements as opposed to how I felt hours prior.

The memories of the night before flash through my mind making me flinch, almost feeling his old calloused hands on me again as I groaned in pain underneath him, helpless. Despite dreading my return back to reality in the morning, I chose to focus on the now, holding the beautiful girl I've stumbled upon as close as I could.

"Goodnight, Ella," With one last kiss to her forehead, I drift off to a nightmare filled slumber.
