October

I am summer's fool.

A beautiful summer's fool.

I am summer dresses, disguised in heartache chronicles I wrote on my body like a memory verse.

I memorized your name like a memory verse,

hung it up in my heart so i'll never forget it.

Under my skin like your name made love to my bones and claimed me yours.

Summer's fool.

So full of October Days,

like I am so full of rain,

like rain is so full of me.

Like we were the rain, turned thunder and I left when I feared your lightning.

I have always had the deepest fear of lightning.

Like, you were summer lightning that came into the night of my life.

So quietly,

yet sparked every living love song in me.

Knowing full well, lightning is love at first sight,

and destruction saved for the last nights.

Darling I am your summer's fool.

I dance on the petals of our memories,

reciting the poems you wrote for me.

And when the music was over I picked up those petals and turned them into rose water.

Bathed it in,

and breathed in your name.

This memory verse.

And I remember those days.

Those first October days,

and that first October evening.

When, my heart threw down all it's defenses

and you greeted me, with summer in your hands.

and I melted.

I bowed down, surrendered.

Looked at my summer's dress in your reflection and thought to myself:

This man,

darling this man

has made a summer's fool of you.

You,

my darling.

Are so full of this man.

so full of him, like the rain.

On that fateful October day, I remember it very well.

True to this tale I swear,

I fell in love with a man.

This man who was summer

on my most winter days.

And true, so true to this tale

I became summer's fool.

P.S in Namibia- October is a summer month.
