Your POV

I'm so fucked.

It's been two days since that night happened and I've never felt so fucking scared in my life before. My legs were shaking under the metal table as I fidgeted with the fabric of the orange jumpsuit, waiting for an attorney to show up.

Right now, I'm in the county jail and there's this other hearing that's scheduled for today. On the first day that I was arrested, they already had this hearing with me where I got told that I can't be released under any conditions and that I had to stay here until the arraignment or something. And... today's that day.

I snapped my head up at the sound of footsteps approaching and the cell door opening.

"Goodmorning, Ms. Y/L/N. I'm your public defender, Thomas Williams," the man in slick grey hair and suit and tie said with an extended arm.

I carefully stood up and shook his hand.

"Let's keep this short. At today's hearing, the prosecutor will tell you what you're charged with and why... That's just what gonna happen, yeah. And at last, they'll ask you whether you're guilty or not. It's--"

"This other girl is arrested too, right? Will she be there too?" I cut him off.

"If you're referring to Ms. Cabello, then yeah, she'll be at the arraignment too, today. And the same thing applies to her," the old man said with a nod. "Now back to you, will you plead guilty or not guilty."

"I'm not guilty," I said firmly.

"Alright."

I slowly walked into the courtroom with two guards on tow. If today's really as simple as Williams had said, then I guess I'll do just fine. Hopefully.

Sitting down on one of the defendant boxes, I waited patiently for everyone to arrive. Soon, the room filled itself with... everyone that should be here I guess, then finally, the judge has arrived too.

The arraignment began with confirming me and Camila's basic personal information.

"Alright. Clerk, could you please read the charges that have been brought against defendant Y/L/N," the judge said.

The clerk turned over the page laying in front of him. "Y/F/N."

I stood up and held my hands behind my back at the sound of my name.

"It is charged that she is, on the 25th of October in the city of New York, did a killing caused by dangerous conduct and the offender's obvious lack of concern for human life; a killing done impulsively without premeditation but with malice aforethought; or a killing that results from an act intended to cause serious bodily harm. Thereby having committed murder in second-degree. Y/F/N, how do you plead to this charge, guilty or not guilty?"

"Not guilty."

"Please be seated," the clerk said to me.

I did what I was told and sat back down on the chair next to Williams.

"Karla Camila Cabello."

I heard a chair from the other side being shoved. I don't know what took over me, but I found myself leaning forward in my seat to glance over at her. Her eyes met mine for a split second before she shook herself out of it.

"It is charged that she is, on the 25th of October in the city of New York, did a killing in which the offender had no prior intent to kill, such as a killing that occurs in the heat of passion or as an act of self-defense. Thereby having committed voluntary manslaughter. Karla Camila Cabello, how do you plead to this charge, guilty or not guilty?"
