You had inquired about your colleague's baked honey beignet, this morning. And it had led you here. A simple bakery shop painted in a soothing green colour, with a beehive sculpture of a logo next to other golden wooden sculptures of words in attached letters, painted to look like long honey drops. It readed : Winnie's Honey Tree.
You looked at the impressive, possibly handmade logo for a moment, then looked at the door and opened it, getting inside. The walls were painted with the same green paint, except for a few paintings of cute honey bees, trees and beehives. It was soothing and cozy, like walking into a nursery. On that hour, only a few persons were here, including a mother with her little boy, happily munching on a cake, while she knitted a scarf peacefully. You walked over near the checkout.
Looking into the stand, you eyes widened. The smell of honey permeated the air. The baked goods were of many varieties, from simple madeleines and cookies, to more ellaborate and lovingly decorated cakes. There were even a corner filled with brownies and creamy, mousse-looking tartlets. But it was not hard to tell that the bakery's owner had a profound love of honey. Aside from the just mentionned goods, all other treats were drizzled with the delicious liquid. There was even a pantry with a transparent window displaying all kinds of honey pots. Sugary, liquid, thick, transparent, made from lavender, apple flowers and a myriad of other.
You simply could not decide what to buy for today.
''Hmmm-hmmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hm...la da dee da dum...''You were snapped out of your thoughts as you heard someone humm. You raised your head and saw...a woman. She leisurely walked towards the counter with a fresh batch of muffins. She was not thin, far from it, but...she was beguiling. She had a prominent belly that looked full and comfy like a pillow and it complemented her round breasts that were just the right size. Her hands looked smooth and thick to the touch and were paler than her arms. But what caught your eyes the most was her hair. they were long, thick, curly and blond, tied in a bun with a hair net.
She kept humming her little ditty as she proceeded to drizzle the muffins and place them in a basket, before turning around and beginning to place them in the stand.
''Huh, excuse me, Miss...''
She finally raised her transparent, yellowy eyes towards you.
''Oh, sorry, just a moment.'', she settled her basket aside and smile at you warmly.
''Hello, what can I give you, today?''
You blushed a little.
''Well...this is my first time visiting here...What would you reccomend me?''
''Well...'', the baker woman placed one hand on her elbow and brought the other up to lightly tap the side of her head. You found it odd, but cute.
''Today, I think, is a good day for a beignet.'', she hummed once again as she picked a beignet up with paper. ''It's simple but yummy and you can buy several to munch on during the day.'', she smiled widely at you, making you blush more.
You chose two honey beignets and a coffee. After paying up and picking a business card near the checkout, you noticed that there was no name.
''Your bakery looks beautiful, Miss...?''
''Winnifred, Winnifred Milne.'', the baker woman answered. But then, she touched your hand.
''But you can call me Winnie.''
You returned Winnie's smile, half-lidded, then went to sit at a table, near the stand and checkout, spending a chunk of you evening watching her work her magic.
