"I'm really sorry to hear about your job babe," Ethan says, I sigh and he holds me closer. We're cuddling up on the sofa under a blanket.

"Ok," he says as he gets up, we are going out. I roll my head back; I was not in the mood for going out. And just as if he read my thoughts, "we are getting you out of this mood!" Then he does his classic puppy eyes that I can't resist. After an hour of getting ready he takes my hand.

**************

We drive, passing restaurants after restaurants, trees after trees, people and cars until he pulls into a restaurant. It smells familiar but I can't picture if we've been here before. He gets out of the car and opens my door for me. He takes my hand and we walk into the restaurant together. A waiter at the front greets us.

"Greetings monsieur, madam," he says as he shakes Ethan's hand and plants a kiss on mine.
"Table for two?"

The night rides in on a horse of pure midnight velvet, beckoned by the stars under the glow of a full moon. As the colours of the day rest, the streets become its monochrome beauty, shapes that make an ever-changing, ever-present puzzle, question and answer united. In this night we all become one, from rock to plant to animal, one promise of life awaiting the return of the sun.

We laugh and talk and laugh some more, Ethan was right I needed to get out of that mood. He always knew the right things to do and say, he gazed longingly into my eyes.

"What is it?" I chuckle and he looks down and blushes.
"Nothing, it's just, you look beautiful," he replies.
"What did I do to deserve you?"
"That's what I ask myself every day."
"Smooth."
"Why thank you." We laugh some more and then a waiter brings over some champagne.

"Thank you," Ethan says nodding to the waiter and the waiter nods back. I take a sip of the champagne

"What are we celebrating?" I ask and Ethan gives me a mysterious look. He's always been mysterious that's one of the things that attracted me to him in the first place.

"Us," he replies and holds up his glass, "to us." I hold up my glass as well.
"To us," I reply. Ethan looks at me directly in the eye, his piercing emerald eyes staring into my soul. I look around and realise something and I know why this place felt so familiar. "This is where we had our first date!" I exclaimed and Ethan laughs at my excitement.

"Yup, I'm glad you remembered," he replied. He paused for a minute and hesitated, wanting to say something but held his tongue.

"You know when we first met? You were drunk, crying and vomited all over me," Ethan recalled. "And from what I remember you called me Etan." We both laugh at this.
"I really love you; you know that? You're smart, funny, strong, confident, stubborn and annoying at times, but you got a big heart and would go to any lengths to make someone you care about happy." I blush at all this, why does he have to be so damn cute. His smile turned to fear.

"Babe I think that there's something in your drink, at the bottom of the glass," Ethan says with a mix of worry and disgust. I look down and see there is something, I slowly put my hand in and grab the small object, it's small and circular. I gasp and jump back in shock, it's a ring! I look up and see Ethan on one knee grinning like a fool!

"So," he says... "will you? Will you Amelie Brown make me the happiest man in the world? And be my bride?" I start tearing up and beginning to feel shocked and dazed, this was too good to be true! I nod my head.

"Yes! Yes, I do! I do! I do! I do!" I exclaimed, as he picked me up and span me around. We are two fools, happy and in love.
