Chapter One

howdy !! so if you read the lil bio thing this is my first wattpad story, so it might not be very professional. hope you enjoy !!

Firetip ambled along the sleek bridge of Silkwing web, a load of gifts from the Wasp Hive secured in a bag held in her jaws by the handle. She only looked ahead; the Cicada Hive was was growing more clear in her view. For a moment she cast her gaze to her left where Caterpillar walked beside her. The two varied in size; Caterpillar much more tall and hefty looking, being around 11 (in dragon years). Firetip was much smaller; since she had only sprouted her wings recently. This made her think back.

''Now remember dear, your objective as soon as you break free from that cocoon of yours is to serve. You will serve the Hivewing assigned to you with utmost respect. Obey every command they give to you; no complaints, even if it is to chop of your own tail and eat it. Understood, little miss?'' Firetip's mother instructed with a talon pointed at her. Firetip was about to undergo her metamorphosis; her buds were bursting with life, her wrists swelling as it developed her silk.  ''Yes, ma'am,'' Firetip said with a quick little nod. Firetip's mother grinned with glee, giving her a hardy pat on the head. ''That's my little silkspinner. Now let's hurry; I can tell your silk is just resisting desperately to lunge out and begin their weaving. We don't want to be late, now.''

A shiver went down Firetip's spine. Firetip had a high distaste for her parents; they were too devoted to serving Hivewings, and they wanted her to be like them.  That day still lingered in her mind until Caterpillar spoke, snapping her back into reality. ''You sure you don't want me to carry those, hun?'' Caterpillar offered, holding out a palm. ''N-no thanks, your clarity. I will be able to handle this just fine.'' Firetip casually nodded her off.  After emerging from the cocoon, Firetip had high expectations to be given to a very strict Hivewing who gave her orders nonstop. However, the Hivewing government had other plans and gave her over to Caterpillar, a rather popular residence in the Wasp hive. Caterpillar only gave her 2 to 3 commands a day, usually handling all the other chores. Every time Firetip attempted to assist, Caterpillar would allow her for a little while before dismissing her while she finished it up. This surprised Firetip, since Caterpillar was rather, well, lazy. Nonetheless Firetip accepted it. She felt comfortable around Caterpillar; she treated Firetip like a regular dragon, and not just a servant.

 ''If you say so, hun.'' Caterpillar said with a shrug, her head turning back towards the hive. ''Oh, look!'' Caterpillar suddenly exclaimed. ''We're about there!'' Firetip had been staring at Caterpillar for the while, that she didn't notice how far they had walked. For most of the trip from Wasp Hive to Cicada Hive, they had flown, which rather fatigued Firetip's wings a bit. But on the way, Caterpillar caught notice of this and landed at a nearby hive to walk the rest of the way. Firetip's legs were aching with the pain of travel, and she felt her shoulders sag at ease at how their trip was almost coming to a close. ''Just a heads up, by the way,'' Caterpillar began. ''This Hivewing we're visiting is a little strict, and she'll have company who's just the same. But don't panic, you'll do just fine.'' Caterpillar gave Firetip a warm smile. ''I'm sure you will.'' A wave of comfort washed over Firetip to know that Caterpillar cared enough to warn her.  But Firetip didn't panic at all; she was trained for this, after all. Firetip suddenly acknowledged that Caterpillar's pace had quickened, so she mustered her scraps of strength to keep up the pace as Cicada Hive's entrance neared and neared.
