What I'm Called

They called me an Orphan
Yet my parents weren't dead
I wasn't forgotten
Abandoned, or missing
I wasn't lost
Not to them

They didn't leave
But were taken
I thought they were dead
They thought I was
We were all wrong
Our family was alive

I was lost in the dark
Living on the streets
They were lost in system
Unable to escape
No way for us to find each other
No hope for parent or child

Then the light found me
It saved me from the dark
Some people actually care
They took me in a taught me
People willing to fight the dark
Willing to speak out

They taught me how
I fought and stood out
Now I'll never be forgotten
People heard me high and low
They know what we're about
They can't call me an orphan

My parents, they heard
They broke others out
Inspired by my voice
And my new family
To save several
They sacrificed themselves

Now I'll continue on
To do what I do now
Fight like my families
The one I lost
And the one I found
'Til a better future's found
