Scarlett's POV:
Aaaarrggghh!! I woke up to my alarm going crazy. Why did this thing have to wake me up this early in the morning?!?!
"Because you should not be late to the office on your first day and get thrown out even before you start," my inner voice snapped at me.
And don't forget my witty inner self which speaks more than me.
Oh, you are jealous.
NO, I'm not.
"Now get your ass up fast or else you're going to be late," it retorted.
As soon as I got out of the shower after completing my morning routine, I wrapped a towel around myself. My friend entered the room just as I was searching my closet for an outfit.
Meet Amelia my best friend since college. We have been to the same university but she studied fashion design and is now working as an assistant to one of the top fashion designers in the city.
"Hey, Ami, can you help me find an outfit for the first day? I'm so confused"
"Yeah! If you have to dress on your own I'm sure you'll look like a clown," My inner voice again.
OHH! SHUT UP!!
"Of course Scar," Ami said.
She went through my closet and picked a black dress that hugged my body perfectly and ends at my knee. I completed the look by adding on a blazer. I applied eyeliner and some lip gloss and then put on my heels.
I grab the car keys, "Ami, I should get going its already 8.15 I have to be at the office by 9, BYE!!"
"OK Scar, drive safe," she said waving.
Have you been thinking that I have a car? NO. This isn't mine, it's Amelia's. Ethan drops her off at the office every day so she left the car for me. Ethan is Ami's boyfriend, they have been together since college. They are so perfect for each other. I wish I could have someone like that.
"Only in your dreams, little girl" commented my conscience as I parked the car in the parking lot.
Can't you just shut up for some time??
Nope! (laughing)
I'm so going to kill you!!
You can't because you love me!!
I'm going to ignore you from now on. After taking a deep breath, I walked up to the front desk. At the desk, I noticed a young woman answering the phone. I approached her and introduced myself "Hi, I'm Scarlett Cullen and I'm here to join as the new assistant to Mr. Miller"
Her eyes scanned me from head to toe before she spoke "Okay, can I see some ID? I believe you were provided with one after clearing the interview". I rummaged through my bag and gave her the ID which was given to me after the interview.
she checked that and smiled "You can find a woman at the desk on the 35th floor who will assist you."
"Thank you"
"You're welcome and nice to meet you, Miss. Cullen. I'm Lia Jones"
"Nice to meet you too," I waved at her and walked away to the lift. Upon arriving at the elevator, I found no one nearby, so I hit the button and stepped inside. A hand came in between the elevator doors just as they were about to close, opening them again.
There comes a handsome man who stands beside me. It was as though I froze on the spot when he looked into my eyes. He has the most beautiful green orbs I have ever seen. In a gray tuxedo and a white crisp shirt underneath, he resembled a Greek god. Under his shirt, one can see his muscles flexing, towering over me at 6.3 inches while I'm only 5.5, and his silky black hair does not fail to impress.
Suddenly, I became aware of reality when I heard him clearing his throat. It was only then that I realized I had been staring at him for too long and instantly looked down in embarrassment.
"Are you done admiring?!?!" he said smirking. Gosh, his voice... "OK....earth to idiot he'd seen you drooling over him," my conscience retorted at me.
My goodness!! I'm so embarrassed I want the earth to open up and swallow me whole. "N..oo I...I'm no..t," I said stuttering. He just smiled at my words.
"So.. new here? Never seen you before?" he asked looking at me.
"Yeah, Mr. Miller's new assistant," I said.
His smile grew bigger hearing my words. "OK, All the best" was all he said. A halt in the elevator led to us parting ways on the same floor. My attention was drawn to the desk where I saw a woman talking over the phone. Until she had finished calling, I waited. "Yes, how can I help you?" she asked politely.
"Uh, I am the new assistant to Mr. Miller, and here's my ID," I handed her the ID.
She scanned the ID before replying "I'll have to ask Mr. Miller if he wants to meet you right now." Following that, she made a call "Sir, Miss. Cullen, your new Assistant is here. Do you want to meet her?"
"Ok, sir" she ended the call. She smiled at me saying "The cabin of Mr.Miller can be found at the end of the floor". After thanking her, I headed for my boss's cabin. My first day at work made me very nervous. All I can do is hope everything goes well. Inhaling deeply, I knocked on the door.
"Come in!!" called out a familiar deep voice. Opening the door, I stepped inside.
"WHAT THE....." I remarked, not believing what I had seen......
