She walked me outside to the parking lot and told me to get in her car. It was a sleek black jeep. I've always wanted a jeep. I'm intrigued so I decided to go along for the ride. She turns on the engine and we leave. "Shouldn't I go back and get my phone? Just in case something happens?" I hesitantly ask. "Where we're going, we don't need our phones." she tosses her cellphone out the window and we ride into the winter afternoon.
We ride for a bit in silence until she says "I like you" my body gets all stiff. What did she just say? She likes me? After all the shit she's done to me? That's a fantastic way to show you like someone. I reply with "oh?" and then turn my head and stare out the window. We reach a stoplight. And she turns to face me. "I know this is all so crazy. Me attacking you in the hallway, me taking you on this mystery trip, and me just now telling you I like you. But I'm serious. I really do like you. I tried to suppress my feelings for you by being mean to you. I thought that if I got you to dislike me, I wouldn't have to show you my true feelings for you." I hold her hands in mine and look into her eyes. "Well if we start a relationship, I want to know the real you. I don't want you to hold anything back. Okay?" I respond. The car behind us starts honking at us. The light is green. She gives me a quick kiss on the cheek. "I promise." she says. We speed of into the afternoon.
About half an hour later after blasting our favorite songs and singing softly to each other we arrive at our destination.
