Jojo's POV
"Jojo, for real get up!" I heard my mother yell. After a few seconds of me not moving, she walked away. I thought she was leaving the room but the sound of water running in the bathroom caused my eyes to open and my head to shoot up.
"Yo! I'm up!" I screamed. She did that ugly, loud ass cackle before she left the room. I rolled my eyes and got out of bed. To say I was excited about this summer would be a lie.... My mother was making me get a summer job because I got in a little trouble during my sophomore year of high school. It's whatever, though. At least I'll be getting money.
My thoughts were interrupted when I heard my mother yell.
"Kiara, that's not my problem! Go in there and change your clothes!" My younger sister, Kiara, stomped in her room, I'm guessing to change her clothes.I went into my closet and took out what I was gonna wear today. It was a simple outfit that consisted of mismatched Jordan 1s, black jeans, and a white shirt. I went into the hall to grab a wash cloth and towel before going into the bathroom to shower.
After my shower, I went into my room and got dressed. I could hear my mother's car horn and that told me to hurry up. I fixed my hair and threw a chain on and headed outside.
...In the car...
...9:03 am..."You're already late and it's your first day!" My mom yelled. I inwardly rolled my eyes at her loud mouth. I guess Mama was annoyed too because she actually said something.
"Shut up all that yelling, Nika."
"Whatever." My mom tried to mumble, but we all heard it. She looked in the rear view mirror at me and sighed.
"Try to be quicker in the morning?" I nodded and looked out the window as we pulled up at the studio.
My mother thought it would be a good idea to get me a job cleaning up some music studio. She had a lot of connections just because of who she was.
I grabbed my backpack and hopped out of the car. She drove off as soon as I made it to the door. I sighed opening the door.
Walking inside I couldn't believe my eyes. It was beautiful. Every inch of the floor was polished and all of the walls were squeaky clean. I was knocked back into reality when I heard a man's voice.
"Jordyn....Jordyn Jones!" I slightly jumped and turned to face the owner of the voice. My eyes lit up when I saw him. I ran into his arms and hugged him tight.
"Dad what are you doing here?" I asked. He looked at me strange.
"I was just stoppin' through to visit an old friend of mine. What you doin' here?" I rolled my eyes thinking about my reasons for being in this palace.
"Mommy made me get a job this summer." He laughed out loud gaining the attention of everyone in the room. I didn't understand what was so funny. He was literally about to die.
"You? A job?" He said still laughing. I rolled my eyes and folded my arms. He was DYING and I was contemplating whether I should just walk away or not. Nothing is that funny.. come on pops.
"I am perfectly capable of working, father. I am appalled!" I dramatically stated. He looked at me like 'bitch please'. I then remembered that I was already late. I quickly pulled the small paper that my mother had given me from my backpack. It told me where to go and who to talk to.
"Pop, I'm sorry but I'm already late. I'll call you." We exchanged hugs and he wished me luck before he left. My father and I's relationship has been on and off for the past five years. I would see him for maybe a week, then we wouldn't see each other for months. It took a lot of getting used to.
