WENDY

"So he asked you to go with him to this wedding?"

Naeun asked the first thing that morning, pushing the doors to Wendy's office way before she even set her bags down, hands on her hips as she demanded the full story of whatever had happened the night before. Actually part of it was Wendy's fault, after her meeting with Mark last night far too many thoughts filled her mind that she couldn't fall asleep and the urge to call Naeun had been her temporary refuge, but since her cousin had been far too sleepy to grasp the entire story, they opted to talk today.

"Yes but that's not what I was worried about, Nae, for some reason I feel as if he knew about our plans or something." Wendy muttered, distractedly flipping through the pages of the Coex branch financial report waiting for her in her work table.

The particular branch have some problems regarding the number of their available stocks, with the numbers always dwindling some customers often complained about the inadequacy of service online, in turn making other people shy away from buying from the shop resulting in such a poor return of sales for the third consecutive month now.

"Don't be silly, Wannie. There's only the four of us who knew about this plan, Sunyoung included, and Jiho knows better than to talk." Naeun said placatingly, although a crease began to form in the perfect arch of her brows. Jiho is of many things, but she's not the type to gossip about sensitive matters, that much Wendy was sure it was the prime reason she hired the girl anyway. Although she still couldn't shake the feeling that Mark had an inkling of what they were planning and that's unsettling her more than ever.

"The thing is, he really seemed to know something and I'm... I don't really know what to do anymore." Wendy sighed defeatedly.

Truth is even if a week had already passed, the same confusion she had when Jinyoung confronted her and Sunyoung told her about what she have to do to exact her revenge never left her mind, no matter which she tries to consider weighs in on her conscience and to be very honest she truly doesn't know how else she was supposed to act.

"Mark's henchman really did a number on your resolve, didn't he?" Naeun mused softly.

"How did you know about that?" Wendy asked suddenly apprehensive, Naeun had her ways of finding things out but to think her cousin might've violated her privacy like this doesn't sit well with her.

"Relax Wannie I was merely guessing," Naeun told her with a smile, understanding the reason for her bristling, "Besides I know you Wan-ah, the mere fact that you're here second guessing something you're already set on doing means a reason for you to falter has come up, you're exactly good like that."

"Well..." Wendy trailed off, how was she supposed to put more words to the story she'd rather not discuss anymore, anyway?

"Mark said you can say no, right?" Naeun asked, although it was clear she knew the answer.

"Y-Yeah but-

"There're two things I can suggest you consider doing now, Wannie. One would be to flat out say no, though we'll have to find another way to snoop around with that, but there's also no guarantee we would find out anything so no true harm done."

"I can't do that, Nae."

"Or you could always play along with his facade. He was the one who suggested you two get back together anyway, all you have to do is to convince yourself that you were actually the same two people madly in love back then," Naeun told her softly.

"You're forgetting I can't act for the life of me, Nae. And besides how could I even after all those evidences he could've refuted, he just completely left me and my family to deal with the backlash of Aurelia's lies." Wendy replied, aghast at such a suggestion.
