Joe pulled up on the curb, patrick was sitting in the porch in a long sleeve, jeans, converse and his backpack and a suit case. Joe leans over to open the door to his truck. Patrick puts his stuff in the back and gets in getting buckled. They look at each other for a moment. Patrick bit his lip trying to not cry. "Patrick I know you are trying not to cry... just let it go. I'm not going to judge." Joe says looking at patrick. He broke down bringing his knees to his face and hiding it. Joe doesn't know what to do.

"I'm so fucking sorry joe... I shouldn't have told you anything!" Patrick weeps into his legs. Joe notices things about patrick clothes since his mom re married. They've gotten bigger, he never gets new ones, they are all long sleeves besides his gymshirt, which he wears a long sleeved under shirt with it.

Joe reaches over and places his hand on Patrick's, it was freezing and basically just bone. Patrick flinches at the touch, but leans into it. "It's okay pa-" a car horn is heard from behind joe. He pulls away from his friend and drives away from Patrick's house.

"I take it you are staying here for the whole break, right?"

"Yeah."

"Well we don't celebrate Christmas because-"

"I know Joe, we don't either.. not no more at least." Patrick says curling up a little in the passenger seat. Joe turns into a road to his house.

"All we do is light the candles, nothing else. None of that dreidel bullshit. We really aren't religious, hell I didn't even have a Bar mitzvah." That made patrick smiles a little. Joe looked over for a second to his his friend smile, he was cute when he smiled. "You know, you are really cute when you smile." Joe tells the boy next to him. Patrick blushes.

"T-thanks..." He really didn't know to say, "I guess you are too." Patrick says. Joe's heart flutters.

They pull into the drive way of a nice big house. Patrick knows about Joe's brother and sister, but not their dogs. They both got out and little puppies ran to them both. Patrick's eyes went wide at the cute little puppies. They were a mixture of a golden retriever and a shiba inu. A little littlest one ran to patrick. He was missing a part of his ear.

"That's Freddie, he's deaf in his right ear. He's kinda a loser." Joe points out. Patrick just pets him.

"I didn't know you had puppies!" Patrick smiles as they all crowded him. "Okay babies, I gotta get up." Patrick says letting down Freddie and standing up. He grabbed his bags and thy two -and the puppies- headed to the house.
