"We can't keep staring at them." I whispered looking at Becca as we leaned in the doorway watching Max and Rae sleeping "This is borderline creepy."

"I know but they are so cute." Becca said walking into their room and sitting on their bed. "I'll wake them up."

I laughed quietly and walked into the living area picking up my phone to call in some quick room service to eat before we left for the day. I had no idea what to expect this morning we obviously knew Rae's dad was a terrible person but the little we've heard about Rae's mom all sounds positive. And I'm not sure what to think of Max's mom, he's only said a few things here and there but it's enough to make me question her parenting. I mean the kids got salmonella because she let a 10 year attempt to cook chicken for dinner. Lost in my thoughts I wondered back into the bedroom and rolled my eyes when I saw Becca sitting on the bed cradling Rae in her arms.

I walked in and smacked Becca on the back of the head before saying "Stop basking and get moving." And then turned to Max and tickled him "wake up sleepy head." I smiled when I heard him giggle. "You too cuddle bug." I said reaching over and scratching Rae's back before I walked out of the room to start getting ready.

Right as I turned the corner I heard Rae scream "MAXXX!" So I quickly poked my head back into the room and saw her laying on top of Max "It's time to wake up dude."

"Well that's one way of doing it." I said laughing as I walked back into the room I quickly changed into my clothes for the day before I through my hair into a ponytail.

"I packed mine and Rae's stuff April." Max told me coming around the corner wearing a backpack as I started setting up breakfast.

"Thanks bud." I said kissing him on the head "Come eat your breakfast so we can get on the road." We quickly ate our breakfast and got ready to head out the door of the hotel when I saw the receptionist from yesterday smirking at us.

"Are these your lovely children?" She said in a mocking voice. Becca raised her eyebrow in question while Max and Rae thankfully giggled distractedly between us. "They are just t-"

"I thought I told you not to talk to my family ." I said the tone in my voice catching Max and Rae's attention causing to glance up at me with big eyes "I don't have the time or patience for this." I said smiling down at Max before I gently squeezed his hand and led him out the door.

"Your family hunh?" Becca said after everybody was buckled into the car and we started driving down the road.

"She made a comment last night that I didn't appreciate." I said rolling my eyes at her with a smile "I told her to back off. She just wanted to start a fight and I'm not interested in that sort of petty game, especially in front of those two."

When we pulled up to his house and I put the car in reverse I turned around in my seat to see Max looking out his window. "This is it." he said just as the door opened and a stick thin red headed woman poked her head out. "Can you see the smoke?" He asked Rae.

"Are you ready Max?" I asked looking back at him with a smile "You don't need any clothes or things like that. But if you have any toys, or games, or pictures you want."

"He just want's to say bye to Buddy." Rae said as I opened her door.

"You don't know my life." Max said looking over at her as Il opened his door.

"You know it's true." She whispered. Looking at the house when a golden retriever ran out the front door, both Rae and Max ran from our sides yelling Buddy.

I was watching the kids run around with Buddy before I walked up to introduce myself to Max's mother. "Hi, Mrs. Anderson, it's nice to meet. My name is April I'm Maxwell's caregiver and this is Becca my best friend. Ironically she is Raelynn's caregiver."
