Hanaka Yamamoto (Official)

Full Name:  Hanaka Yamamoto

Pronunciation:  Hah-nah-kah  Yah-mah-moe-toe

Name Inspiration:  Her first name comes from the Japanese words for Poison, which is Doku, and Flower, which is Hana.  Her last name is a Japanese surname that means "Base of the Mountain".

Nicknames:  Hana (Thank you for the nickname Warinot!)

Backstory:  Hanaka had always been a more peaceful natured pup than most in her pack.  Despite having two well known assassins as parents, she was never interested in following in their pawsteps.  Rather, she spent most of her time watching the pack's Healers at work, learning how to make antidotes rather than poisons.  She eventually became the official apprentice of one of the Healers, who happened to be her uncle, who she became very close to.

When the Shadow Clans attacked her pack, her uncle gave her his antidote necklace and told her to run, which she did.  However, she didn't get very far and was bitten by an animal with really small teeth that had neurotoxic venom, permanently paralyzing her leg. Her cries caught the attention of the Metal wolves and she was captured.  When her parents and uncle saw, they surrendered. They were mercilessly killed in front of Hanaka, who was then taken to the Slave Camps.

In the Camps, she did what she could to get into favor with the guards.  To do this, she offered to heal guards who had somehow become poisoned. Many of the other slaves disapproved of this, but she also found a friend in Echina Themu, a Light slave, as they both believed not all the guards were bad.  They could often be found together, being watched over by the guards they had helped out. When she was finally freed, she immediately felt at home with the other Ghost Pups. She continued her Healer's training with many of the other Healers, and helped teach them about antidotes in exchange. She and Echina have stuck together like glue since meeting in the Slave Camps, both being Healers and the same age, and have grown to become best friends. She has as well grown somewhat close to Micaiha, both having taken up a vow to never fight again, and admires the Psychic wolf's advanced healing skills.  As it was Kane who rescued her, she has grown attached to him as well, and has begun to look up to him as a father figure. She tends to try and heal prisoners they have captured, but Janus is not to keen on seeing her around them, as she finds him slightly scary. Her necklace absorbs through it's leaves, and a push of her paw allows the antidote within to come out.

Personality:  Before the attack, Hanaka was a very naive pup who believed she could solve all the problems on the island if she became friends with everyone.  She has become less naive since then, but still believes that there is at least a little good in every wolf. She is very shy, sweet and kind, and completely against hurting others.  Like the Plant survivors, she is somewhat horrified by the extent of torture some of the other Ghost Pups use on their victims. Similar to Micaiha, she also took up a vow to fully devote herself to healing and never fight again.  Just the thought of her hurting another wolf is enough to make her cry. The wolves she considers herself closest to are Echina, Micaiha, and Kane.

Charm Origins:  Her necklace used to belong to her uncle, who was the Healer she mainly trained under when still in the pack.  It's actually opens to reveal a vial that contains the strongest antidote the two ever created together. Hanaka uses it sparingly, as many of the ingredients the two used to make it are scarce around the base.  Her ear charm was given to her by her parents to remind her of her assassin lineage. Her necklace is based off a Bleeding Heart flower, a plant that is part of the poppy family, which is mildly poisonous and can cause skin irritation upon contact or more serious symptoms (like convulsions and impaired breathing) when ingested.  Her ear charm is modeled after Deadly Nightshade berries, which are notoriously poisonous and can be fatal if ingested.

Scar Origins:  No scars as they were taken out in the official design.

Fun Facts:

This wolf was harder to create than Sewa because she is nearly the complete opposite of my salty Water pup.

Unlike my Water wolf, who I designed myself, Hanaka was almost completely designed by Eevee

I created a rough draft for the profile I wanted for her before asking Eevee to edit it since she knows a lot more about AzureHowl than me and has been making entries longer.  I like a lot of the changes she made and things she added. Just looking at the profile I made before she edited it now makes me cringe. XD

I tried to combine Korean words, but I ended up with a direct translation so Eevee helped me name her again.

Before Eevee came up with a new name for her, I had called her Càirdeas which translates to "relationship" in Scottish Gaelic.

I was going to apply her for the sibling pair, but decided against it when I saw how many others already had and I barely had any ideas.

She originally wasn't going to have any charms or scars, but I eventually decided to let Eevee give her some when designing her after deciding I wanted her to have a charm or two that represented her element and at least one scar.  From there, Eevee came up with a Bleeding Heart antidote vial and Deadly Nightshade berries and leaves by her ear for charms, along with a scar she received from a currently unknown animal with neurotoxic venom while trying to escape during the attack. The animals name was later found out as a Murashi.

I guess you could say she was a collaboration?

It was only after her picture was finished that we realized her name sounds like a Jewish holiday. XD

I was more excited for her to get in than my Water pup, even though I was more nervous for Sewa.

She is probably my favorite wolf out of my Water and Psychic wolves.

I have a headcanon where Hanaka now has a crush on Eevee's Metal wolf, Axenos.

She is the only wolf out of my three that I can call "innocent"
