( John's Pov )
It was a windy afternoon. Leaves were scattered across the ground and the distant sound of cars was behind us, but other than that, it was quiet. The sun was setting, putting a slight orange color to the sky that gently lit our path; it was beautiful.
Alex and I were out on a walk after an excellent dinner. It was our 6th year being together and we just wanted to spend time with each other. We decided to walk through a park close to our house. It was a very calm and quiet place; perfect for hanging out. As we walked hand in hand, I remembered that Alex had said he had a surprise for me.
"I wonder what it could be," I thought.
We started to go off the main path and onto one that headed into the woods that surrounded the park. I looked up at Alexander in confusion before internally gasping. The light from the sunset was shimmering off his hair, it gave a golden hue around him almost like an angel. I noticed the look of determination on his face, but there was a hint of fear in his eyes.
"What could he be thinking?" I asked myself,
"and where are we going?" My mind was racing, but I foucused on the path ahead.
We walked to the top of a hill not far from the path. We sat upon the hill and Alex laid his arm over my shoulder, just enjoying the silence. The sun had slowly began to set and the stars were starting to dance across the sky.
After a while, I felt Alex stand. He then helped me up so we could be face to face. Alex looked me in the eye and said,
"I wish this could last forever," He began, "We have been together for such a long time now and I have loved every second of every day spent with you by my side. You've brought light into my world and filled the empty holes in my heart."
Alexander got down on one knee. The tears that had built up began to run down my face as I stood in complete shock. His voice came once more,
"That is why I must ask, John Laurens will you marry me and allow this to last forever?" A flood of tears poured down my face. I fell to me knees and climbed into his arms.
"Yes, Yes! A million times yes!" I yelled. We were so overwhelmed with joy that both of started crying.It was the start of the rest of our lives and I'm happy I get to spend it with him. I just wish that life could truly last forever, then we can live eternity together just like this.
