When Mrs.Martinez's class is over I rush outside before she can talk to me. I really don't care about anything anymore. I'm leaving already so what's the point. She really needs to live a little.

When school ends I drive home. I call Kace and tell her to come over. I want to hang out with her as much as possible before the move which I'm still praying that it doesn't happen, and I don't even believe in god.

She arrives here quickly and we watch some funny movies to try to feel less sorrow about our current position.

"Rose when you leave we will still talk right?" Kace asks.

"Of course Kace why would you think otherwise?" I frown.

"I feel like the distance will ruin our friendship." She has a point but I sure as hell won't let that happen.

"We have come so far in our relationship that not even being apart can destroy it. We're stronger than that" I reassure her.

"Alright" she smiles slightly.

When the last movie is over we both brush our teeth. After we position a mattress on the floor so Kacy can sleep on it. Then we slumber the remainder of the night.

...

The next morning I wake up and Kace isn't on the mattress.

I stand up and search the bathroom, kitchen and living room but she's not there. I start to worry. When I go back to my room I notice that one of my yellow post it's are on the wall. It's reads:

Rose I went to school you were asleep when I woke up so I shut off your alarm sorry. You seemed at peace lol :)

Of course.

Well at least I won't confront satan.

There's nothing to engage in so I'll kill time watching Netflix. I hope my mom's at work because she'll be fuming if I'm not in our local prison.

I spent half the day just watching shows and I haven't pigged out on food or brushed my teeth so I get to that once the last episode is done.

When I get to the bathroom and turn on the lights my heart stops for a second. My mirror on top of the sink has the word leave in a dark shade of red. Multiple questions invade my brain. Realization hits me. I laugh for a second because I know it's one of Kacys juvenile pranks. Very mature Kace.

...

I hear footsteps outside my house followed by the door opening.

"Rose I'm home!" My mom yells from downstairs.

I walk downstairs and kiss my mom on the cheek.

"How was work?" I ask sitting on the chair while I watch my mom place the groceries where they go.

"It was good but my boss treated me a little.. harsh since I'm leaving him for a much better job." She shrugs.

"How was school?" She asks.

"It was alright, mostly boring." She chuckles lightly.

"So I arranged everything we are leaving for Virginia on Saturday I already rented an apartment and you start school on Monday." She smiles. "This is going to be a great experience Rose. You'll meet new friends and have new surroundings. You won't regret it." My mom walks towards the bathroom to put a new bar of soap and toothpaste.

When she opens the door I hear a thud and I almost fall out of my chair. "Mom?!"

I sprint towards the bathroom to find my mom with her mouth slightly open and the bar of soap and toothpaste on the floor. I forgot to clean up kacys mess.

"I can explain." She looks at me with a confused expression.

...

After I convinced my mom that there was no serial killer inside the house I went to the bathroom to clean up kacys mess. Then I took a long relaxing bath. I usually take showers but now I'm not in the mood for one.

When I'm done I call Kace to see why she decided to do such an immature prank. She answers on the second ring.

"Why did you do that?" I ask before she says anything.

"Well hello to you too." She says with a large hint of sarcasm.

"Kace stop playing I'm serious."

"I don't know what you are talking about Rose take a chill pill." A chill pill? Seriously?

"Does the word 'leave' in a dark shade of red ring a bell?"

"No it doe-" The line goes quiet. I look at my phone and I'm back to my home screen. What the hell? I call again but it goes directly to voicemail.

While I'm figuring out theories of what the hell happened to Kace there's a loud thud on the door that startles me. I rush downstairs and open the door.

"Delivery for rose" A handsome man in a ups uniform says. He has curly black hair and ocean blue eyes.

"I didn't buy anything online" I state.

"We'll the address and the name says otherwise mam." He chuckles. "Sign here" he points to the dotted line on a paper.

I sign and he reaches for a big brown cardboard box behind him.

"Here you go, have a nice day" He smirks.

"You too."

He turns on his heel and walks towards a UPS truck.
