It was around 7 o'clock when Christen got out of bed to get ready for work. Slowly getting up ,Christen walked into the bathroom washing her face. The feeling of dried tears and mascara washed away as she put the washcloth against her pale face. After cleaning her face up she looked in the mirror letting out a small sigh wishing to just stay up in her room. The thoughts of work made her shiver. Drunk men all around,a boss who does nothing but yell and screams his demands. It was all a nightmare in reality instead of a dream. Chris put her combat boots on quickly rushing out the door starting her long walk to work. It was about 7:45 when she arrived. She stood behind the bar counter overhearing people discuss about a band coming to perform the following weekend. Acting as if she was only cleaning glasses when really she was listening to the conversation. "Oh yeah were going to see Guns N Roses!" a man covered in tattoos said as he took a drank of his vodka. The moment Chris heard that she knew she must go to the concert! Guns N Roses was one of her favorite bands that she couldn't miss. She set her rag down on the counter running over to her boss. Her eyes suddenly went big almost giving puppy dog eyes. Before speaking she took a breath than said " I need to take off work the following weekend!" This may have been the only time she ever asked to take off work. Making less money than she should ,she worked every night! When she said that her boss gave her a chuckle shaking his head "And why is that? Need to go see that silly concert every ones talking about? You know Christen, that place won't get you money for your dreams" he said giving the girl an evil smirk. With his response Christen's heart almost sank feeling her throat have a lump. He was right about not getting money there but it was her only chance to go to a Guns N Roses concert. Looking down she gave him a small nod understanding his answer was a no. The rest of the night she couldn't help but to act like she was happy to customers even though she was really hurt in the inside. Why did she have to live this hard life she kept thinking to herself. A hard worker like her needed freedom for a night! But if she was to get fired the next day that would just make her lose all the money she earned!
