The Way
There is a place I long to be
Although its destinations not clear to me
I long for this place I don't know why
I know its there, I trust, I try
I search for this place in my wake and my sleep
I hunt for this place like a shepherd his sheep
One step two step three step four
When will I reach my destiny's door
Do I run do I fly do I swim do I wish
That I drop off the planet and into a dish
Do I keep trying to find my souls rightful place
Or do I give up to join life's intrusive rat race
Please tell me you're there, I know you can hear
Give up or keep going the answers not clear
Talk to me teach me I know you're alive
Bother me insult me I know its contrive
Which way do I go to my left or my right
Which way do I go I plead for your sight
This place I know will smell of pure love
I'll feel free and I'll float with wings of a dove
I'll always awake with a smile on my face
I'll walk head high my steps full of grace
I can see it dear sister dear sister of mine
Just show me the way I know you're inclined
There it is, there it is, I see with your eyes
My destiny's clear it's full of surprise
I reach for it now I stifle a cry
I reach for it now I smile and I sigh
You see the answer has been right here all along
The answer I fear has been my need to belong
In my skin in my space
In my heart in my face
In order to move each step one by one
I must truly love myself; keep life real but much fun
