The stage was set, the music had begun. All of Paris held it's breath while it's most famous opera house started the long awaited performance for, 'Don Juan'. The patrons' had no idea what was in store for them at this ill-fated night. Not even the performers knew what was going to happen. Only one man knew how the night was to turn out. If you could call this man a person at all.Anmand Moncharmin and Firmin Richard sat nervously in their private box, praying to God whatever happened tonight let them keep their jobs. And of course kept everyone safe. As Richard tapped his feet on the soft of the box, his partner stared at him with a rather annoyed looking face.
"Richard could you please keep your foot tapping to yourself, I am thought it would be in both our best interests if we could look as calm as possible."
"If you have not already noticed my dear Moncharmin, one should not be able to humanly stay calm at a time like this," he lowered his voice quite a bit, "especially since he will be here tonight." Richard spoke with a curt tone.
Almost as soon as the two men stopped their petty argument, the opera had begun.
Richard could see everyone coming on the stage. Then the singing started. He had heard some of it in rehearsal, but never had anything he had seen performed here sound so, so, good. And the worst part was, the music was to get even better.
As soon as Piangi had sung part of his role about luring Christine Daae's character in, he exited the stage. When Ms. Daae's character skipped on the stage, both the manager's could see the Victome Raoul de Chagny tense up, looking at the nearby policemen to warn them to be ready. She begun to sing. When she finished her first part, another voice rung out.
"Good thing Piangi was right on time for his cue," Moncharmin joked with his friend.
But as soon as Piangi begun to sing, for a quick second Ms. Daae's face dropped in horror. She regained her normal position and sat down on the long table to listen to him.
"You have come here, in pursuit of your deepest urge, in pursuit of that wish which till now has been silent, silent..."
Minutes pass as the beauty of both their voice's captify the audience. Every second that past pulled every patron and both the manager's off their seats, seemed to pull them away into a different world. Even Raoul seems to calm down a little until near the end of the song. As Christine sings a line and tries to skip away, Piangi grabs her wrist. Her face twists up in horror as she pulls the hood off. A collective gasp goes through the air as the audience sees not Piangi but, the Phantom.
Everyone now on the edge of their seats in horror watches as the Phantom begins to sing another song to Christine. Most of it is not very loud making it hard to know what is happening. The manager's can only guess what he is saying until his voice booms out:
"Anywhere you go let me go to! Christine that's all I ask of y-"
Before the Phantom can even finish, Christine pulls of his mask revealing a deformity so horrible no one can even make a sound for a few seconds. Only the Phantom who lets out a scream so different from his beautiful voice that no one could even guess it came from the same person.
Reality only sets in when the Phantom grabs Christine's hand and pulls her away from her fiance and the shooting police. No one can even believe their eyes as they try to process what happened. Then one of the members of the chorus pulls back the curtain only to expose Piangi's lifeless body. A mob starts to form to rescue Ms. Daae and kill the Phantom for good.
-
Christine Daae could not believe what was happening. Her so called 'Angel' stealing her away from everything she loved. Terrifying her senseless. If only Raoul was here to hold her in his arms. How she was ever going to escape this man was beyond her.
"Come my darling Christine, come try on your wedding dress I bought for you!" His voice boomed.
"No! I will not try on that, that thing!" Christine crawled away, unable to even stand on her two legs.
But he was much stronger than her and Christine was so terrified that she put it on just to amuse him. As she made her way out her body shook with terror. But, then that terror turned into cold anger. Anger that bubbled up and exploded out of her. She turned to face the deformed face of her captive, screaming about how she hated him.
Then the Phantom hushed her and laughed. He laughed and laughed.
"Wait, I think my dear, we have a guest!"
As Raoul made his way slowly over to Christine as not to anger the Phantom even more, he grabbed Christine by the neck and started to choke her. She clawed at his hand, unable to hurt him at all. As Raoul begged to let her go, he realized what he was doing. As he let her go, Raoul ran over and hugged Christine protectively. As he whispered something in her ear, he got up. As he started to walk toward him, the Punjab Lasso was tightened around his neck. Both him and Christine let out screams, unable to process what even happened.
"Let him go Erik! Please! Let him go!"
Christine fell on the floor sobbing, unable to function. What was she to do if her one love was to die? And it would have been all her fault. To say Raoul, Christine needed to do something drastic. As she gathered up every ounce of strength left in her body, she made her way over to the Phantom and kissed him. It was the only time anyone had shown the Phantom love.
His whole body shook as Christine pulled away. He was standing there looking at with with all the love in the world. But also, all the sadness too. He grabbed a lit candle and slowly dragged himself over to where Raoul was standing, barely able to breathe. Both of the men's eyes glistened with tears as the Phantom burned the rope holding Raoul up. He ran over to Christine and they hugged each other as though they had not touched each other in years.
As Raoul pulled Christine away from the lair, she stopped and walked back to her Angel. Her eyes were red and still leaking water like a broken faucet, her wedding dress had many rips in it, and she was breathing very hard. When she walked back the Erik all he could do was look at her and not cry. But Christine did not come back to stay with him.
"Christine, I love you."
He choked out before started to sob again. She tilted his chin up to look at her. Her hands pulled open his hands and dropped in her engagement ring Raoul had given her. As she dropped it in his hand and closed it tight she bent down and kissed his hand.
"I will never forget you, my Angel of Music."
Christine whispered, so only Erik would hear. He looked at her with such longing it was not even possible to understand what he felt for her.As she left his lair, he grabbed every piece of music he composed ever and ripped them. He ripped them quickly and in such quantity that everything was shreaded in minutes. Erik's cries became so hard they were painful.
"My angel of music- she's gone."
As Erik began to sob even more, he looked at the ring she left him, It was small and plain and gold. The band was basically everything there. Then there was a tiny diamond placed on top of the band. Erik picked up the ripped pieces of music he had once composed he took a deep breath and sang loud and clear so everyone in Paris could here,
"It's over now, the music of the night!"
