"We're really sorry about your daughter Mrs. Martin, but don't worry! We'll help you find her!"
Janice's friends sat around Mrs. Martin in the living room as they waited for the police to come to the house. They tried consoling her as best as they could even though they themselves were hurt in this situation. The four of them were very close friends with Janice and they wanted nothing but to save her from JB and Junior.
Mrs. Martin gave them all small smiles for their sweet efforts of comfort, "Thank you all. I'm very blessed Janice was able to make such brave and caring friends such as you all."
Just then the doorbell rang and Mrs. Martin quickly got up from the couch to go open it. She opened the door to Janice's Ex and 4 cops.
One of them who stood next to Mark, smiled at Mrs. Martin, "Hi Mrs. Martin, may we come in? We can discuss how the search for your daughter will work on our end."
She looks between him and Mark in confusion but nods and opens the door to let them in. Janice's mom leads them to the living room and Janice's friends give shocked looks when they saw Mark enter with the police.
"Mark?! W-what are you doing here?" Gabby asks him upset.
"Detective JJ Chien is my cousin. He's letting me help with the search for Janice."
"Why do you care about Janice all of a sudden?! We don't need you to find her! We can find her without you!" Mariah jumps in getting upset as well.
Detective JJ cuts in, "Actually, we do need him. We need all of you. We need anybody who knows Janice Martin because any information you all know about her can really aid us in our search for her. Mark knew Janice but he also knew Junior and a little bit of JB as well."
"So, how exactly should we do this?" Mrs. Martin asks.
"First, we need to pinpoint possible locations, Janice, Jinyoung, and Jaebum go to or have gone to, both in the past and recently. So far, Mark was able to give some places that Jinyoung and JB liked to go to when they were in college. We think they could have taken Janice to those places if they were trying to hang out with her. Search teams have been sent to those few locations to get some recent information from anyone at those places. Now, I need you all to tell me what places Janice might've gone to recently and then we can check there." JJ explains.
Everyone thinks for a minute before Yugyeom speaks up, "Since it's cold and Janice gets a lot of homework, she likes going to the Starbucks around the corner from our campus."
JJ nods to one of the police officers with him and they start writing down notes on a small pad notebook. Bambam is next to perk up with another location.
"Janice likes coming to the internet cafe downtown with me and Yugyeom to play videogames! The name of the place is called Hi-Speed Internet Cafe."
Mariah is next to speak up, "Guys wait, think about it though, if Janice were to take JB and Junior places I don't think they would like busy places since people would know who they are. We should name more quiet and secluded places Janice went to recently."
Gabby nods, "I agree. If that's the case then I suggest this bookstore/cafe she took me to a few times before this month. It's just outside the city outskirts right before the entrance to another county. The place is called...oh! Blue Marble Books and Coffee!"
"Ahh, I know that county. Janice loved going to the big park down there. It's got a big lake and a nice view." Mrs. Martin says.
Mark gives a small smile remembering the park, "Yeah, Burholme Park. There's nice trails to walk on and there's this small restaurant there which is cute for a small date."
Janice's friends all gave silent looks to Mark's comment and he put his hands up in defense, "Hey! I'm just saying!"
"I think we should check out these places. The quieter ones. In total there's ten of us in this room. Two possible locations. We can split up in two groups of five, one group goes to the book cafe and the other goes to the park. Ask around if anyone has seen those three lately and if you have any leads report back to me."
The book cafe group was Mrs. Martin, Two cops, Gabby and Bambam. The park group was Detective JJ, one of the cops, Mark, Mariah and Yugyeom. Everyone got the detective's number in case they found anything. Because it was late at night, Detective Chien ordered everyone to get ready to start the search early in the morning tomorrow. Once everything seemed settled, everyone except Mrs. Martin began to make their way out of her house but Mark stops Janice's friends at the door.
"Look, I know you guys don't trust me anymore after how I broke up with Janice. I don't blame you. I just want to set things right. You guys don't have to like me, but I just ask that you let me work with you guys. I've changed since back then. I want to prove it to you guys."
The four of them look between each other then Bambam steps up to Mark.
"Janice really loved you man. You broke her just like that. Not cool bro. But, that was in the past. Right now, we need to save Janice. If that means putting the past behind us and trying to fix this situation, then for Janice, we'll work together."
The other three give Mark agreeing smiles making Mark feel relief inside. Everyone felt a part of responsibility for Janice's disappearance, although it wasn't entirely their fault. Still, for Janice, they'd all do anything to make it right again.
