"Never in my life have I thought I'd be sitting in the back of a cop car." Bambam chuckles making Gabby roll her eyes and continue looking out the dark window.
It was 10 in the morning and she'd normally be sleeping in at this time, especially on weekdays since she has afternoon classes. But today all her friends were excused from classes today to help the police search for Janice. Her eyes widened as she remembered today was supposed to be an exam day, but she couldn't study well these days as there was preparation for Halloween and then the unfortunate kidnapping of her best friend.
Today is a brand new month, November 1st. Already some people took down their Halloween decorations and replaced them with Autumn foilage or Thanksgiving decorations. Mrs. Martin wondered if they'd ever find her daughter in time for Thanksgiving. She and Janice were planning to spend Thanksgiving at her mother's house. It was an uneasy evening after everyone left her house after the cops debriefed them on the search plans. Mrs. Martin had to explain to her friends and relatives why they were seeing her daughter on the evening news on Halloween for being kidnapped by two psycho killers.
After about a 20 minute quiet--to an extent thanks to the constant police radio chatter--car ride. The group arrived at Blue Marble Books and Coffee. It was slightly crowded as it was the early morning rush. People in line for a warm cup of coffee to take with them to-go before heading to work, students on their laptops at the tables studying for afternoon exams or doing homework that was due later today. Gabby frowned as she looked over to the bookstore side. She remembered how she and Janice came here to read together on the comfy couches and drink some tea and coffee or just talk about life. Now this place was a possible hangout spot for two serial killers and a victim.
The two police officers lead the group to the counter and one of them held up their badge and a search warrant to one of the baristas behind the counter.
"We'd like to speak to your manager." She said with a serious expression on her face.
The barista nodded and went to the backroom.
"Do you think this could be where Janice took those two?" Bambam asked Gabby.
Gabby sighed and gave him a shrug, "Erm, I don't know."
The manager came out of the backroom and met up with the group. Gabby felt her cheeks heat up as she remembered why she and Janice decided to come back to this place after the first visit. The manager was gorgeous. He was Korean as his name was Youngjae Choi, but his nametag had his English name as Lorenzo Choi instead. He had soft-looking chestnut brown hair that his bangs covered his eyebrows with. He had flawless olive skin and of course, a warm and welcoming smile that she remembered greeting Janice and her on the first day they came here.
"Good Morning! How can I help you all?" He asked looking at the group.
"We want to know if recently, you've seen these people enter your cafe?" The other police officer asks and holds up the mug shot photos of JB and Junior.
Mrs. Martin shows the manager a recent photo of Janice on her phone. The manager looked between the 3 faces and his normally happy expression turned into a worried and sad one.
"They're those mental hospital escapees, right? That's the girl they took?" He asks and everyone nodded.
"I'm sorry, I personally don't remember seeing them together recently. I've seen her with you before though." He says pointing to Gabby.
"I'll ask my workers if they've seen them. If not, then I'll gladly let you all check the security tapes. Anything that helps."
"Thank you so much, sir." Mrs. Martin says as she hands Lorenzo her phone.
