My director is crazy. This is stressful. Guys, if you ever wanna be in a play/musical, be warned.
Theatre, above all, is fun. That's why I do it. But it can be reeeaally stressful. For starters, the second musical I did at my school went by a ton faster than the first. It really felt like we got half the rehearsal we did last time.
The thing is, our choreographer could only be there one day a week, while we had rehearsal five days a week, give or take. Our dance numbers were really hurting, and there's no way us actors were totally to blame! It would have helped a lot if Mr. Choreo was there!
Our Director (and teacher) was another spectacle. Ms. Director, for starters, hired a guy that she KNEW could only be there 1/5 or so of the time. And then, she went ahead and changed the choreography Mr. Choreo DID get down. I shit you not, she completely changed a dance a DAY before the show. As much as I love her, she's a mess. The theatre teacher stereotype is true.
I was an anxious wreck leading up to, and during, tech week. Only at the end of the very last rehearsal did I feel barely ready enough.
But you know what, that's what happens sometimes. You work your ass of in theatre. You always are on your toes, (not just literally) or in some kind of panic. As long as you find it worth it in the end, like I do, it's all good. That show was the first musical I had a solo/ singing part in, and it was a good show.
Welp, what do you think of my overall idea for this book? This chapter was just a fairly mild rant. I just wanna make sure no one goes apeshit over this before I post anything juicier.
