Chapter Five: Now we've met

"Why would you say that?" Yoongi asks, bouncing the basketball back and forth between hands, warming up before his game, "Someone like Sooyoung wouldn't care if she caught you staring at her, she'd take it as a compliment,"

I blushed. Hard.

"Are you fucking kiddi-" "Walk into class like nothing happened," Yoongi said calmly, dribbling the ball before mimicking the sight of a perfect shot, he sighs, "This argument is meaningless, Taehyung. Everything will be fine,"

"But what about everybody else?" I argued, "They'll remember everything that happened and they won't let me live it down. You already know how they treat me," 

Yoongi's hands slid over the ball as he tucked it underneath his arm and pressed it against his chest, "Reacting like a stubborn child isn't a good start," His breath hitched as he sat on the ground beside me, "They're irrelevant, believe me. If I was was to listen to what everybody told me, I wouldn't have been in basketball, they always told me I was too short and too skinny to do anything, so, I proved them wrong,"

He let the ball roll in front of him as he took a sip of his water, "Confidence is something you lack, keep your fucking head up, everything isn't that bad," 

"I guess you're right," I replied, looking up at the setting sun, taking in the colours as I turn my head, "So what do you think is going to happen? Will people forget about it?" 

"Yeah. It's stupid to dwell on something this tiny," His words hurt a bit. Not because they were meaningful, but because they were the opposite of what I wanted to hear.

Sooyoung took a step outside, letting the wind trace the surface of her skin. She closed her eyes as she took a deep breath of the fresh air she's been longing for this entire day, now displayed in front of her, placing herself in a state of euphoria.

A gentle kiss of the cold air snapped her back into her distant reality. Sooyoung smiled, leaning against the hard surface of the railing that surrounded the front steps of the school yard. She turned her head to the side to look around at the students who have stayed after to catch up with each other or just to study a little more.

Her eyes drifted to a couple kids sitting in the centre of the basketball feild not too far from the front doors. They seemed to be... talking with each other, laughing and valuing each others time, "I hope they're having fun," Sooyoung said honestly, looking up at one of the clocks that hung on the wall, "I have a couple minutes... I should go talk with them.. or at least introduce myself,"

With a couple steps, she was down the stairs and on her way to visit the two boys. The closer she got the more flustered she became, slowly realizing who she was gathering the courage to talk to. Suddenly she stopped, parting her lips slightly, "Oh my G-"

"Sooyoung?" Yoongi asked hesitantly, turning around quickly, running his fingers through his hair in a effort to better his appearance. It didn't matter. "H-Hey Yoongi, I didn't notice it was you here," Sooyoung awkwardly laughed, watching the other boy slowly turn his head in her direction, and to her surprise, "Oh! Hey Taehyung,"

Taehyung took a deep breath and waved formally to the girl, smiling back, "Hello, now we've met," He replied nicely, looking to Yoongi with a cute expression plastered onto his face, "Yoongi and I were just discussing how well written your essay was, I was looking for a way to finally express my emotions without looking creepy,"

Sooyoung smiled brightly, taking in the compliment, "Well, thank you, dear! And both of your essays were well written as well!" She turned her attention to Taehyung and placed her hands behind her back, "I have a question about one part in your writing though, it kind of... scared me,"

Taehyung tilted his head, thinking about what he had wrote, "Oh..."
