(Note: I am a HUGE anime fan. This is a short story in which I have combined several of my favorite animes, and then mixed them up to meet the character in a story I have come up with, that is not yet written, who is based on myself. I do hope all of you anime lovers enjoy this.)

Maria Blackwater looked down at the huge list of people she was required to invite to the Festival of Magic. It was a five-day ceremony in which magic was celebrated, and she was given a list of people to invite by Laurena, the current Goddess of Fire. Preparations for the festival were going up around the magically protected town, and she was slowly getting surounded by brightly decorated crepe paper, shiny fabrics and colorful lights. The festivities were all around her, but she had the task of making sure everyone invited was going to show up. Which meant trips to halfway acrossed the globe. she was lucky she was so famous, or there's no way she could have gotten away with that. Sighing, she rolled the list back up and tucked it in her sleeve. She was lucky she still had a month to do this, or she would never have the time to find all of these people...

"Alright, Laurena. InuYasha and Kagome are the next pair on the list. I'll go get them next. Next stop, Higurashi residence..."

Maria closed her eyes. She could feel the goddess's magic lift her off of the ground, and transport her into the country of Japan. Once she felt her feet touch ground, she opened her eyes.

She was in what looked like a bathroom. She could see a toilet, a sink, some towels, and even a mirror. It was all fogged up, however. She scrunched her eyebrows together in confusion. "Huh? This isn't the Higurashi place. She turned around, hoping to find the door. She found it.

Along with a boy with bright orange hair. In a bathtub. I suppose I shouldn't have to tell you he was naked.

He blinked, his mouth open in shock. Maria had no such inclinations, however. She screamed and made a mad dash to the door. She slammed it shut behind her as fast as she could, considering it was a common Japanese sliding door, instead of the doors she was used to. She looked straight up at the ceiling and yelled, "YOU HAVE A SICK,TWISTED SENSE OF HUMOR, LAURENA!"

"Huh? who are you?"

Maria spun to face the newcomer, hoping to the gods that he wasn't naked, too. He wasn't. Instead he was wearing a traditional Japanese robe. must make him a teacher, or a writer of some kind. She exhaled, and noticed that her facewas bright red. "I-I uh... Oh, Laurena, I don't even know where I am! Ok. breathe," she did, " My name is Maria Blackwater. I'm sorry to intrude on your home like this, I was looking for someone, and I must have gotten lost. I apologize most sincerely, Sensei."

It was in cases like these Maria was glad she spoke perfect Japanese. Perfect any language, really.

The man shrugged. "It happens to the best of us. I'm Shigure, Shigure Sohma."

Now, Maria had been spending a lot of time in Spain and France, where it was common to embrace new acquaintances. So, she took his hand, and pulled him into a tight hug, kissing each cheek. Too late she remembered that she was in Japan. and hugging was NOT a good thing here. That was hardly the issue, however. The issue was, when she looked down, there was a poof, and the man she was hugging had turned into a dog!

(Note: this takes place further back in Fruits Basket before the curse is relieved. Thank you for your understanding.)

Maria stared open-mouthed at the dog who had taken the place of Shigure. She couldn't believe it. How had she just randomly picked a household of magic? Oh....maybe Laurena purposely placed her here so she could invite these people to the festival. Even so, it was surprising.

Meanwhile, Shigure was trying to think of ways to get out of this. Should he transform back, make an excuse and send her away? No, that wouldn't explain the clothes on the ground. What if he had Hatori-san erase her memories?
