After the scene at the airport, Kyle went home. How he got home? He didn't know. He looks like a shell of a man whose soul has been sucked out. Everybody is trying to phone him ever since he left the airport, but he's not in the mood to talk to anybody.
Sleep is the only way that he can escape the pain. But even in sleep, he's haunted by the thought that he wouldn't see Frances when he wakes up or when he goes to the Requiem the following day.
With sleep not bringing any comfort, he got in the car and started driving. He doesn't know where to go. He just wants to do something. Keeping still makes him remember her even more. He kept driving and found himself in front of the Requiem. It's closed for the night. He went in and sat at the bar. With a beer bottle in hand, he mourns for his heart.
Seeing that no one's present, he made his way to the stage and picked up a guitar. He started playing.
I will promise myself I won't care
distracting myself from your stare
and I've seen this mistake once before
with your games, I will never fall for
I've hung up my guns...
I won't kill again!
Just before he reached the chorus, he heard someone else's playing alongside him. He turned around and saw Kira, Stephen, and Damian playing with him. Nevaeh is now at the front of the stage with tears in her eyes.
I won't forget you!
I'm not going to let you win!
but I'm tired of lying!
tired of fighting you!
and it's not going to change
you ask for my heart
you know I'm down
but not the way you lie to me, you tear it all apart and beg for me to say
I sail off to sea, I'm not coming back
Kyle couldn't contain it anymore. Sobs can be heard in between the lyrics. Nevertheless, the band continued to play. Knowing this will be the biggest help that they can offer Kyle.
count me down
make that sound
when you know it makes no sense
count me down
until you mess around
when I know you can't ever change
why am I trying?
throw it overboard
when I'm ready to we'll progress
count me down
make that sound
break the silence!
pretend it's not forever
I'll pull myself together
I'll save it, I'll forget her, I'll breathe...
and I'll say she never hurt me
and look at it as learning
and laugh about the good and the bad
because I will live forever
we don't belong together
I know I'll be the better.
one day I will make it through.
**Song title: Discovering the waterfront by Silverstein**
After the song, Kyle broke down completely. He knelt, the guitar still strapped on, cried like he never cried before. This was more intense than when he cried at the falls. The others can only look and feel sorry for him. Nevaeh and Kira are already crying. Stephen and Damian tried to keep it cool but sniffles can be heard from both of them.
Kyle suddenly got up and went straight to the bar. Grabbed a bottle of beer and sulk.
"So what's your plan?" Damian followed him.
"I don't know." Kyle kept his head low. "It's not like I can do anything."
"You won't try and follow her there?" Stephen sat beside him and grabbed a bottle for himself.
Kyle stopped and thought for a second. "I guess I would just have to respect her decision."
"Just like that?" Nevaeh surprised by Kyle's comment.
"Like she said, if fate is on our side, then it will happen." Kyle drank the last of his bottle. "I'll just see what happens."
They didn't push the issue. They saw that Kyle has made up his mind. No matter what happens, they will stand by Kyle's side. Support him on everything and help him get through with this.
The Requiem has never seen emotions like this before. Every night a lively crowd always fill the place with positive emotions. This is the first time that negative emotions are being fed to the place. Most of which are coming from Kyle. The place would never be the same again.
