Destiny's POV:

I woke up to someone playing with my hair. I looked back up and there was Demi staring at me intently.

I looked back down not wanting to stare too long.

"Good morning." She said realizing I was awake.

"Morning." I said, my voice all raspy from just waking up.

I sat up and took my old beat up suitcase out from under my bed, and looked through the very little clothes I had, and picked out my outfit for the day.

"Are those all the clothes you have?" Demi asked while I slid my suitcase back under the bed.

"Yeah.... why?"

"Oh nothing." she said unconvincingly.

"Sure, and I know what you are thinking. But don't worry, not everyone needs a big wardrobe. As long as I have a roof over my head, somewhere to sleep, and food then I'm happy." I said while sitting at the end of the bed.

"I am going to get ready before everyone else considering there isn't a lot of hot water, make yourself at home, and you don't have to stay, thanks for the company though." I said and walked out.

........

I walked back into my room all done getting ready, to clean up my room a bit.

I was surprised to see Demi still there.

"You're still here?" I asked surprised that she even was.

"Yeah why?"

"Sorry, not everyone stays this long." I said sitting next to her.

"Well I am not everyone." she said poking my nose. I scrunched my nose in response.

"So, have you found the kid you want to adopt?" I asked hoping it wasn't me.

Don't get me wrong, I really do want to get adopted, but it just always works better if I didn't. It's easier for me to not get too close, and if I do, I get my heart broken every time.

Everyone leaves, and I've learned the hard way.

"In fact I have." Demi said snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Is it Jessica?" I asked hoping it was. in two ways that would benefit me.

1) I would never see Jessica again.

2) I wouldn't get adopted.

"Nope."

"Then who?"

"You silly!" she said laughing.

"You don't want to do that." I whispered.

"It's easier for all of us that way."

"How?"

"So I don't have a chance of getting close, for you to leave. It works best that way." I said.

"Who says I was leaving?"

"You didn't say but you will. Everyone does."

"Well like I said, I'm not everyone."

"I highly doubt that."

"Then I'll prove it to you."

"How?"

"Let me adopt you." She said hope filling her eyes.

I couldn't say no. That would be inhuman of me.

"I'll take you up on that offer." I said laughing.

"Get your things, because honey, your life has just gotten a whole lot crazier." she said ruffling the top of my head.

Maybe she is right. Maybe she isn't like everyone else.

Maybe she will stay.
