Dan's POV

I don't know what I was thinking. Did I really want to get wrapped up in this? Yes it was my choice to call Alice in the first place, but I didn't think I would have gotten this far. Untill three weeks ago I didn't even know I had a sister. It's always just been me and my brother. Can I even take care of another human being? Sure I live with my flat mate, Phil, but he doesn't really count, he's an adult.

for fucks sake.

I realised that I was going to have to tell Phil that we were going to have a 16 year old girl only slightly legally living with us untill who knows when. I wouldn't let him have a hamster! I didn't know what he was going to think when I asked to keep a human. My sister none the less, but still another life form we would have to care for.  I began pacing my room trying to decide what to say. I didn't have much time, San Francisco to London is a long flight but only 13 hours, that's not very long when you're me.

Phil, I know this is last minute but I need you to move into the office.

no.

Phil, we are going to have a human.

That sounds much worse.

I should keep it simple, just give him the facts and bite the bullet. I know he wouldn't get mad at me. I knocked on his door.

"Phil, are you decent?" I asked through the barrier.

"Yeah come in, Dan." I opened the door and Phil looked up from his laptop. "What's going on?"

"I need to ask you something, and your answer needs to be yes, can I trust you?" I looked at him with worry. I can't belive I hadn't talked to him about Alice before. I mean- I did talk to him when I found out about her, and when I was calling her, but not just now...

"Sure, what is it?" He sat up, I felt blessed to have such an understanding friend by my side.

"You know Alice?"

"Your sister." He nodded knowingly

"She just got kicked out of her house."

"Oh no! Is she okay? Does she have somewhere to go?"

"That's what I came here to talk about." I looked away.

"Oh no, Dan."

"I'm sorry, I couldn't say no to her!"

"It's okay, but how are we going to support her? Where will she sleep? Will she go to school? Taxes?"

I choked on my words. "Well I hadn't thought it through yet."

This was ironic seeing as Phil is usually the one to make rash decisions without consulting me or thinking it through.

"Okay, it's okay." Phil pushed his laptop off his lap and sat up. "We could turn your office into a make shift bedroom."

We walked up the stairs to look about the room and decided that it was okay as is. We took a taxi to the Airport a 12 hours later, after buying a sign to write "Alice Coffee" on. When I received the text that her plane had landed my heart skipped a beat.

Today I meet my sister.

Hey guys, sorry this chapter is so short, I'm trying to think of some better ideas for this story, I really want it to keep going.
