It had been a few weeks since the birth of the new foal, Blanche. So far she hah made herself a few friends among the younger horses. It was at this moment that Blanche was gallivanting with a foal named Bolt. To be honest, Bolt was a bit...proud. He thought that because he was named bolt he was faster than all the other horses.
Well, well, well.
Blanche didn't like that one bit, and today... today she was hellbent on proving that smug little colt wrong.
Blanche
My ears twisted round in irritation. Trotting around aimlessly, I waited patiently for Bolt to finish eating so we could race. I have been practicing all week and I drank an extra gulp of mothers milk. That colt better be ready to lose, 'cause I ain't going down without a fight.
A blue bird floated down from its perch and balanced delicately on a branch before me. It cocked its head and gazed at me with one bright, beady eye.
EEEEEeeeeeeeOOOOOOoooonnnnnnnn
I jumped with fright and so did the blue bird.
Bolt and another colt pranced around, laughing uproariously at their success in scaring me.
Gracefully, collecting myself off the dusty earth, I loped past them calling over my shoulder:
'"Catch me if you can!"
Bolt stopped frisking around and raced towards me as did the other colt.
Eat my dust, slowpokes.
I warmed my legs, slowly easing into a rapid gait. I soared over the rough ground, the wind ruffling my mane. I could hear the two other colts, panting and puffing as they strained to catch up to me. My hooves drummed against sand and grass. Faster, and faster I went, the trees and bushes become a blur as I galloped like a mad horse.
It had been some time before I realized that:
1- I was all alone
2- That the air around me smelled strange
3- The clearing in which I stopped was very smoky
4- ...
THE FOREST IS ON FIRE!!!!!
I turned around quickly looking for a way out. I had never seen this before but now I understood what my mama had told me before. Huge walls of fire crackling and hissing, spitting little darts of orange flames out. I whinnied loud, sniffing the air for my mother.
Where was she?
I felt foolish. I should've stayed near Bolt and the other colt. Now because of my desire to win a dumb race, I was going to be toasted, grilled, charred, burnt...to death.
The smoke rose in thick billows, blow gusts of ashes and debris that burned me. I loped on, wandering blindly over the rough ground, trying in vain to retrace my steps. I could feel the fire against my back, branding me like a hot iron.
Suddenly, I stopped short. There were two walls of fire caging me in.
C-rr-aaaaa-c-kkk
A burning tree crashed to the ground with a resonating thud and I reared back in sheer terror.
"Mama!"
"MAMA!"
I accepted my fate knowing that this might be my last momments.
"I love you mama and papa."
The walls of fire closed in.
"Goodbye."

I tired, hence the short update.
Next week I will upload a proper introduction and a longer chapter.
I pinky promise.
