You hadn't been able to stop thinking about Jungkook since you left his home, hidden from your thoughts by his magic. His image popped into your mind, memories of his mouth, his hands, his breath on your skin every time Namjoon caressed you.

Which, you had been narrowly avoiding too much of. You knew he was concerned about you, his suspicions of you having an affair with another man thickening the air between you with tension even though he said nothing. The two of you weren't officially together, but you'd slept together enough and spent so much time with one another that everyone just expected you two to marry soon.

The goblin's book was an enigma, the words foreign on your tongue and the energy absolutely magnificent. You'd never felt such a spark as you had when touching the worn book, the only thing that even came close being the owner of said book himself.

You flipped the page you were on, coming across a symbol and scribbled notes in the margins in unfamiliar letters. The book gave off an aura of power, of magic, and you were positive that it must be a spell book. You dragged your finger down the margin of the page, touching each note Jungkook must have written down as he studied. You wondered about the importance of the book, your curiosity killing you even more so that you couldn't share the knowledge with anyone.

You were determined to learn something from the book.

You hiked your bag higher up your shoulder, rolling your eyes at the joke Namjoon made as the two of you walked side by side down the gravel beside the forest.

"I haven't asked because I wanted to give you space," he started, kicking at some of the rocks in the path. You hummed and looked at him, slowing down your pace. "What exactly happened when you were gone?"

You froze for only a second, eyes widening. It was but a moment of hesitation, but he saw right through you and watched you carefully. "I don't remember," you said quietly. "I just remember falling asleep by a tree and then the next thing I know, I'm waking up a few feet away from the village."

"Okay," Namjoon replied easily.

You knew he didn't believe you and you tightened your grip on the strap of your bag, the knowledge of the book tucked away inside of it burning in the back of your mind.

There was a rustling sound in the bushes beside you and the two of you stopped. You peered into the forestry, but were unable to see anything. Your heart lurched into your ribs.

Namjoon said your name urgently. "Ignore it, come on—it's probably just some animals."

You ignored him, squinting harder into the forest, willing your eyes to see something. Dark eyes peered back into yours for but a moment before disappearing with a loud rustling out of your view.

Jungkook?

Your eyes widened and you hurried into the greenery, ignoring Namjoon's shouts of alarm as you disappeared. He followed after you, catching up to you quickly as you came to a stop, looking around for any sight of the goblin.
