Aftermath Part 3

CHAPTER 10: THE INVASION

“Hey psst… Wake up!” Alex begins to shake Jessica as she is sleeping silently.

“What, What is going on.” Jessica replies to Alex’s whispers in her ear.

“I think I heard something in the other room.” Alex says quietly.

“So, Go and look to see what it was instead of waking me up.” Jessica says getting angered by the moment of losing sleep.

“I want you to come with me though.”

“Are you dumb? I am sleeping, just go.”

“Please, Please, Please” I need to get her out of bed, she won’t be mad after she see’s this.

“Fine.” Jessica says with a growl. They both begin to walk down the stairs quietly, hoping not to wake anyone else up in the building. Jessica reaches for Alex’s hand, She grips tightly.

“What are you trying to do? Squeeze the blood out of my hand?” Alex says in a quiet and sarcastic tone.

“Shut up you doofus, I’m scared and you are the one that dragged me out of bed.” Jessica replies in an angry tone. They walk into the cafeteria that is lit up with candles that were shaped in a heart. Jessica’s grip loosens around Alex’s palm. “Is, Is this all for me?” Jessica smiles and hugs Alex tighter than she has ever hugged anyone in her entire life.

“Who else would it be for?” Alex questions with a smile on his face.

“Well there is always-” Jessica is cut off mid sentence by a scream that comes down from the hallway towards the prisoners holding cell.

“Holy shit what is going on! ” Junior comes running down the stairs. She has been with us for about a week this has never happened.  

“I was just trying to-” Alex gets cut off.

“No shut the fuck up! The fucking zeds can see those fucking lights from the candles a mother fucking mile away!” Junior is screaming in Alex’s face.

“Calm the fuck down son, Let the kids try to be romantic.” Dean says.

“AHHHHHHHH!!!” Alyssa screams from her room.

“This fucking bitch again, I thought her losing her finger would be plenty enough to shut her up for the night.” Dean says as he is running back towards her holding cell.

“You did what!?” The other three say simultaneously.

“I cut one of the bitches fingers off, so what?” Dean begins to chuckle before he looks through the glass to her holding cell. “Oh my fucking god.” Dean says as he cannot believe what he is seeing.

“What?” Junior asks as the other two cower in the nearby corner. Junior walks up to the glass and peeks through the window. “That isn’t possible, is it dad?” Junior begins to cringe at the sight of the mutations that are taking place before their eyes.

“I gotta see this now, it can’t be that bad, can it?” Alex says confidently

“This is some gruesome ass shit man, I can’t look again.” Junior says and begins to gag.

“Oh my God, what is happening to her.” Alex asks in amazement.

“That there, kids-” Dean is cut off by a sudden scream no more than 10 feet away from them.

“AHHH, HELP ME!” Alyssa begins to scream, she makes eye contact with Alex.

“We have to help her! We can’t just let her suffer!” Alex begins to scream at Dean.
