I've been playing rhythm games all afternoon, particularly Cytus II, because a new update came out. Seriously, it's such a fun game and if you have 1.99 spare, I recommend that you buy it.
As I was playing, I thought it might make a cute story idea!
For those of you who don't know (everyone lol) Cytus II is the second game to Cytus, of course. It's a rhythm game where you have to hit the notes in time to the music. As with most games, there are different levels and difficulties to play on and different characters too.
This is the game that Kara will be playing in my story!

Kara's POV

Work is stressful. Saving lives is stressful. Life in general is stressful. The only time I have to relax is when I'm at home with Lena. But even when I'm supposed to be relaxing, I still find my play time stressful. The games I enjoy require intense concentration and sheer determination. A single mistake can send me off into a rage.

I woke up extra early this morning to download the new update to Cytus II. I got a notification that it would be coming soon, so I made sure to get it as soon as I could. I get so lost in the game sometimes. I can play it for hours and completely lose track of time! I think it bothers Lena though. She gets very clingy around me when I'm playing. If I'm not giving her attention, she can get grouchy. But a new update means I have to play!

"You're up early," a voice groaned. "Gosh Kara, it's 5:00 am."

"Sooorryyyyyy!" I whined, giving her my puppy eyes.

"Don't you start- It's too early for this." She rolled her eyes. "What are you doing up this early anyways?"

"New update!"

"That game? Again?" Lena really didn't sound best pleased.

I sulked into the sofa as I waited for the update to install. "Don't be so mean! It tests my reflexes and hand-eye coordination..."

"I know babygirl, I know. I'm sorry. It's just so bloody early."

Lena slumped down next to me and rested her head on my shoulder. She let out a contagious yawn, forcing one out of me too. She wrapped her arm around mine, linking them together, snuggling up close to me. She looked so sleepy. I felt awful for waking her up so early on her day off. I suppose I just couldn't contain my excitement over the new update.

"Babe, it's done. I'm gonna need my arm back to play," I whispered gently to her.

All I got was a reluctant groan as a reply.

"Please Lena, I'm dying to play this!" I pestered.

"Fine..." she sighed, letting go of my arm.

I was already far into the game. I had the first three main characters past level 40 already, and I considered that quite impressive for a novice player. I wish Lena would see how much it meant to me, but she just didn't get it.

"Who are they?" Lena questioned once the game had loaded.

"Who, these three? They're some of the main characters," I explained. "This is PAFF, that's NEKO#ΦωΦ and he's ROBO_Head."

"What's with the weird names?"

Surprisingly, Lena was showing somewhat of an interest in the game. She'd never asked about it before, and this showed good progress.

"Those aren't their real names, silly!" I giggled. "Those are their usernames. PAFF's real name is Aroma for example. Basically, these people make music online and those are their profiles. Whenever you unlock a new song, essentially, it's the character uploading a new song for you to play!"

"Ah I see! That's clever. What about those other ones?"

"Oh Xenon and ConneR? Those people you have to pay to unlock. I didn't wanna spend my money so I don't have them."

"Kara," Lena looked me stern in the face. "I have billions, literally, I could buy the entire company that makes the game. If you want those extra ones, all you have to do is ask!"

"No baby please! Save your money, I don't need them. They're kinda pricy anyways..."

"What, like $100 or something?"

"N-no... $9.99," I mumbled.

Lena raised her eyebrow. I knew instantly that when I was done, she was going to buy every single add-on pack. She's so good to me with things like that, she truly spoils me rotten.

"Go on then, show me how you play."

I looked to Lena and smiled. I was so happy that she was showing interest in the things I like.

I love my iPad Pro. Lena bought it for me of course. I make good use out of it by playing these games. I needed to level up PAFF some more, so I pressed on her through the smudged screen. The song I chose to play is called Survive. I've already got a decent score on it, but in order to level up, I have to repeat songs a few times over.

I was halfway through with a full combo of over 200 notes when Lena moved in closer to my face. "Mmh I like the look of what those hands are doing babe. You'll have to use that in the bedroom," she whispered, seductively.

I gulped at the sound of her words. Red consumed my face, but I kept my concentration and continued to play. I could tell that she was trying to put me off, but I was set on perfecting this song.

"What happens if I do this?" she said, moving her hand.

She tapped on the screen, completely missing the note in time to the song.

Bye bye full combo.
Bye bye perfect score.

"LENAAAA!!" I groaned. "Why would you do that?!"

She laughed mockingly at me, repeatedly kissing my cheek.

"You're so cute Puppy, oh my gosh."

I just pouted at her angrily. She continued to give me little kisses all over my face before finally reaching my lips. I couldn't stay mad at her for long, especially when she's such a good kisser.

I'd always love my Lena, no matter what she does to annoy me. She's too special to ever give up.

"I'm sowwy Puupppyyyy," she said in baby voice.

"It's okay Lee, I'll always forgive you."

I put the iPad onto the table and went back to kissing Lena. It was rude of me not to spend time with her on her day off. She could be just as needy as me sometimes, and I'd hate to keep her waiting for the attention.

"You know I love you, right?" I reminded her. "It's just a stupid little game. You, Lena, have my whole heart."

"I know Puppy. I love you too."
