By this point, Spencer and I have been dating in secret for six months. My sister, Lana, is about 7 and a half months pregnant. She's excited about the baby, but I don't wanna make her worry because of what Jacob did to me. Maybe he won't do it to Lana, maybe he really loves her and is ready to have a baby. I let out a slight sigh, thinking of my son. Today, he would have been 2. I feel tears welling up in my eyes and run to the bathroom. I let myself cry, I didn't even let myself cry when I buried him. Emily comes into the bathroom.
"Hey what's wrong?" I wipe the tears.
"It's nothing, just hormones." I lie.
"You aren't a convincing liar."
"It's my son's birthday, and my sister being pregnant, off his father, really worries me."
"Why?"
"Because he poisoned me, which killed my son." Emily looks a bit shocked.
"How did he get away with that?"
"He said that with my pregnancy brain, I accidentally mixed rat poison into my tea."
"What a piece of work. Does Spencer know?" I shake my head.
"Can everyone tell we're dating?" She nods simply. "How?"
"The way you two look at each other, secretly trying to steal kisses, and just how happy you both look." I start blushing. "Hotch just wants you two to say it, he says right now it's all speculation." I head back out to my desk, we don't have a case, so it's all paperwork.
"Hey are you ok?" I nod.
"After work, I have an errand to run, if you wanna join me." He nods.
"Of course, I pretty much live at your house now." I smile a little. 5 pm hits and we head to the cemetery. "Visiting your mom?" I nod.
"Her and Matthew." I answer. The snow covered cemetery makes me smile a little. Mom loved the snow. He looks a little confused. I get out the little toy truck that I got for Matthew, and my mom's pink daisies. I walk through the snow to my mom's grave. I wipe away my tears. "They certainly haven't been keeping up with maintenance." I complain digging out the vase. I look toward my son's grave and see his is perfect. I look at Spencer, who looks at me, the sadness and confusion in his eyes. I walk to Matthew's grave the tears stinging my eyes. I place the truck and smile a little. "Happy birthday, baby boy. I miss you so much. Next year, I'm getting a puppy, just like you would have wanted." I whisper.
"Ashlynn?" I look at Spencer. "Who's this?" I look at the grave.
"This is Matthew, my son, today's his birthday." I explain as if he was still living.
"Oh, happy birthday, wish I had known." He looks a bit embarrassed.
"I'll explain when we get home, it's a long story best told over pizza." He smiles and holds me in his arms.
"Want me to drive?" I nod.
