Spencer walks in with his new haircut, short all the way around and curly at the top. I think it suits him.
"Awww why'd you cut it, Spence?"
"So you can't pull my hair anymore." He grins and smacks my ass lightly. Today, we both got the day off, so we planned to stay in, watch movies, and order Chinese food. I cook more often than not, but for us, it's a special occasion. I then get a call from my sister, or at least her phone.
"Ashlynn, Lana went into labor, she's going to have the baby soon." I hear Jacob's voice.
"Ok, have my dad call me once she has the baby, I already told her I wouldn't be present at the birth." I hang up and look at my boyfriend. He looks up at me from the couch.
"Come on, so we can watch the movie." I sit next to him and curl into his side. I sip my coke, and eat some of the popcorn he made. I suddenly start to feel nauseous. Maybe I just got my period. I get a call from my dad.
"I need you to come to the hospital, there's complications with your sister, and she's being taken to have an emergency c-section." I stand up and grab my shoes and purse.
"Spence, I'm going to the hospital, if you wanna come you can." He doesn't even answer just gets up and joins me. His jeans and t-shirt, look completely out of character for him. We get to the hospital and my dad looks stressed out. Much like Hotch, he hides his emotions.
"What's the latest?" I ask.
"She was bleeding quite a bit, they said the placenta was separating." I look in her direction.
"She's going to be fine." Spencer seems a bit out of it. "You don't seem yourself, what's going on?"
"I don't know, I'm kind of nervous, what if this happens to you? Not that we're going to start a family right now, but it's the what if."
"Spence, every woman has different experiences when it comes to pregnancy, look at JJ, she had a pretty smooth pregnancy all around, but my mom had a really rough one with me and Lana. But there's no way to predict the future." I kiss his cheek and he seems less caught up in his own mind. "I'm gonna run to the restroom." He nods.
Spencer's POV
Leon sits next to me.
"You truly love my daughter don't you?"
"Yeah, and that's what I'm afraid of, Hotch had his family used against him. But I still want to ask her to marry me."
"Then ask her, son, life is short, and you two seem like you really love each other. You have my blessing, now Jacob, I'm probably gonna chop his balls off." Mental note: never piss him off.
"For What He did to Ashlynn, I don't blame you."
"When She was younger, I had hoped for her and Coulson, but he likes women that aren't as bull-headed as my Ashlynn." She can be extremely stubborn.
"Has She always been stubborn?"
"Oh yeah, but she didn't ever act like a spoiled brat, like Lana did, if she didn't get her way, she would accept that and then work hard to earn whatever it is she wanted." He smiles. "She wanted drum lessons, I told her no, because I couldn't get her drum lessons and then get Lana violin lessons, because Lana would play twice and then give up. Ashlynn got a paper route, made money selling paracord bracelets, walked dogs, you name something a ten year old could do and she did it, she saved until she could afford the lessons and then asked for a drum kit. She's really good too, she can play anything on the drums." I see Ashlynn come back and she sits down.
"I remember I was eleven and I decided I wanted to be an FBI agent just like you." Her Dad smiles again. The doctor walks out and looks at Leon and Ashlynn. He looks grim, not like someone who just delivered a baby. "What's going on?"
"Lana didn't make it off the table, she had some pretty extensive bleeding. The baby is fine but she didn't make it."
