I sat hopelessly in a chair that grew to wrap around me and finally noticed the evil glint in Frederick's eyes. It had drew me to my senses and I had finally understand why he had used his magic and forced me to sit here.

Frederick, now standing with the book opened to a different page, chants a spell I knew only because my parents told me that it was forbidden.

My eyes start to fall and black clouds my vision. My head starts to sting so badly I had to grit my teeth to stop me from screaming.

Even with death scraping my mind, I could still hear Fredericks voice clear.

"Goodnight."

Then, a small breath of air leaves my mouth and my head falls back.

"Welcome back, Astrid."

My eyes snapped opened when I heard his voice. I sit up, back my head screams for me to do nothing.

Instead of moving, I only stare at the man in front of me. I relaxed, now seeing it was my savior. Frederick Verdenbolt III.

"Fredrick, what are you doing?" I asked, trying to get up, but once again failed severely.

I saw him relax the second I spoke. He stands from his seat next to my bed and goes right next to me.

He places his hand on my forehead and the pain releases. I narrow my eyes, but never said anything.

"What happened?" I asked him, more demanding. I did not like that he didn't say a word when he usually talks more than anything.

"I found you underwater," he says without a second to think. "Do you remember your old friend, Valeri?" Uneasily, I nodded.

"She put a death spell on you. I saved you." I didn't know what else to say. "Do you want revenge?"

I didn't realize that I did, so how could he have known?

"Valeri's family has always been jealous of us." He then goes off, listing all the reason why they would. "I didn't know that Valeri would ever do this to you. She wasn't a strong witch, not like you."

"How could she?" I growled, angry and confused. I started to remember pieces of the underwater, of my past life. It was because of her my entire body was filled with pain; then a desire. An unbelievable strong desire that overcomes the pain.

A desire of revenge.

"Frederick," I peered up at him, "I want revenge." He seemed satisfied when I said that. "What do I do?" And that caused him to smile, knowing that I'll do anything he would want me to do.

"Can you stand?" I shrugged as a response, and then made an attempt. It was like my body was renewed, like I could run miles for hours or lift the most heaviest of things.

I stood without any problem and looked at Frederick.

"I'll explain what exactly we'll do." I follow him out of my room and then we walked outside.

"Astrid, I am sending you to Ethenia. From there, you will go undercover and practice your magic in the prestigious Halven college. I will have my messengers help you find where Valeri and her family lives. Although she is weaker than some them, her family is very strong. Be sure to attack at my call and when I know you're strong enough. We'll make the plan to infiltrate her home later. " Frederick explains to me.

I took a while to respond, taking in the plan as if it was easy to swallow. I haven't lived for ten years, and now I have to pretend that I haven't just listened to the most played song for her first time.

So, without anything else to say, I changed the subject.

"I know it wasn't just her." I said with narrowed eyes and a sharp growl.

"You're right," He agrees, nodding. "Her family is a signal of hope. They lead and control all of Ethenia."

"And if she dies, everyone will be scared and hopeless. That is when everyone will know your name and regret that they threw you to the water like leftovers." He pauses to take a look at me, like I was a prize he's won. "Death isn't the worst thing, as you already know."

And of course, he was completely right.

"Before we have to send you off however, you need to learn what's been happening these past 10 years. We also have to see how stable your magic is and if you remember anything else." He carries on, making me once again remember that I'm like a newborn baby. I know nothing of this 'new' world I've woken up into.

I wanted to say something, trying to express how much these thoughts are repeated in my mind, but instead I just said nothing. Like I have, ever since my body's been killed.

"Astrid, the one thing you need to learn is to talk. The one thing teenagers can never do." He says with a half smile, making a poor attempt at a joke. All it did was cause me to frown harder.

Even as a child I never talked. Always nose in a spellbook or catching up on the latest assignment.

That's how was a lot of people were like. Not anymore, I suppose.

"Sorry. My voice scratches each time I speak." I whispered, my voice no louder than a lisp.

He thinks for a bit, looking around and then nods. "We'll have to work on that, dont we?" I nod, keeping my eyes off of his. "After all, we have all the time in the world."

An uneasiness filled my body, but instead of listening to my gut feeling, I simply shrugged it off as something else.

"I see your face, Astrid, go on spit it out." He demands suddenly, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Oh uh... I'm hungry." I lied, but I can assume that was apart of it. I haven't tried food in ten years, one of the many mysteries of how I'm still alive.

"That's right! You haven't eaten the wondrous thing called food." He smiles and then turns around. Surprising me by his sudden shifts of moods from seriousness to happiness.

I gave him a tight smile when his eyes caught my face. Though that smile had no true representation of what I felt.

Hell, I didn't know what I was feeling.

Before I could think more, Frederick stops and then I saw the kitchen. My Stars, I have never seen something so... bloody.
