This is not really much of a gateway, more of a walk through the woods until you reach an arch in the woods that signifies you are entering pack lands.

This bridge is actually not as spooky and bad as it looks. It just has that appearance to be an intimidation factor. No one would really walk past that unless they really wanted something.

This walkway is a lot more welcoming, isn't it? The change in atmosphere is to be welcoming because well, you're almost at the pack! It's basically nature welcoming you to join us.

This is the reason why this area is called the gateway. In passing through here, and with immediate discussion with the Alpha, you are an official member!
No one really quite knows why the arch is like that, but it makes for wonderful theories. I happen to think the arch existed because it was once the gateway to the world of the Fae, but that's just me.
