“Jeff. Jeff. Jeff. Jeff!” I shout slapping his chest. Jeffrey has always been a heavy sleeper, but he will not wake up now! “Jeff!” Suddenly, I get an idea and I start to smirk. I lower myself to knee level and raise my hand to my mouth. I lick it and whisper in my brother’s ear, “Get up now or face the consequences.” When he doesn’t sit up, I wipe my damp hand all around his face.
“Gah!” he yelps shooting up like a rocket. He wrinkles his nose in disgust. “Why am I…?” His eyes widen in surprise. “Brielle!” he whines.
“What? You wouldn’t get up!”
He glares at me and swings his legs over the side of the bed, narrowly missing kicking me. At my shocked expression he smirks and says, “Revenge.”
I grin at him and hurriedly stand up. “I call the bathroom!” I scream and began racing out of the bedroom and down the hall to the only bathroom. Well, there is a bathroom downstairs but it has no shower.
Once in the bathroom, I slam the door shut and lock it. “Ha!” I call. “Revenge!”
I can almost see him glaring at me through the door.
I smile and turn away from the door. I was well prepared and have my clothes neatly piled on the counter. I quickly take my shower and dress. I brush my teeth quickly before I walk out of the bathroom, all fresh and clean. Jeff is sitting against the wall and I throw him my damp towel. “Have fun!”
“I hate you Brielle!” he shouts after me.
“Love you too!” I reply. I grab my blue back pack from my room before skipping down the stairs. Emily, Olivia and Mom are already sitting around the table eating cereal. We exchange good mornings, and I grab myself some cereal from the pantry. I quickly pour it into a bowl, spilling about half of it. Okay, don’t even get me started on the milk. Let’s just say I ended up with a peach for breakfast.
Jeffrey comes down not long after, his hair wet from the shower. He grabs some fruit, glaring at me the whole time. Mom glances at me and I just shrug.
“Well, I better get to work. I’m dropping Emily and Olivia off at kindergarten. Anyways, I’ll see you at dinner. Do not forget to lock up.” She puts emphasis on not.
“Are you saying you don’t trust us?” Jeff asks clutching his heart.
“Yes, yes I am,” Mom replies smiling at Jeffrey. “Now come on girls! We don’t want to be late!” Emily hugs us both before leaving and Olivia waves and screams goodbye from the table. They run into the foyer after Mom and a moment later we hear the door open and shut.
“Want to go?” I ask Jeffrey.
“Last one out, locks the door!” Jeffrey screeches stumbling out the room, into the foyer.
I grin and chase after him. I clumsily put on a pair of black high top and grab my jacket from the hook. Sadly, by the time I slid my back pack on, Jeffrey was already out the door. I stuck my tongue out at him and he repeats the action.
