"Y/N, dear, you need to get ready faster!" I groaned as I had just finished brushing my teeth. The sweet smell of honey on toast called to me. It's a rather simple breakfast in my household, but it's what I like. I lumbered down our grand staircase in my pyjamas and stepped onto our cold marble floor, making my way to the dining room.

I sat down on my usual polished leather seat facing the center of the window with my two parents. I was the only child.

Quincy, my maid placed my plate in front of me. I took a long sniff of my breakfast before me. "Thank you, Quincy." I smiled at her.

"Please, M-Miss Tedel, n-no need to thank me at-t all!" She stammered, her eyes not daring to meet mine

I took her hands slowly, "yes there is, Quincy. Take care of yourself, okay?" I spoke softly

"O-Of course, yes." She quickly bowed and left the dining room.

"Y/N, dear, I really don't understand why you have to be so nice to Quincy. I mean, she's our maid!" Mother remarked.

"She's right, you know." Father agreed.

I glared at both of them as a reminder that I have told them a thousand times, even if Quincy was "just" our maid, she's our friend.

Mother sighed, "go get dressed, we'll have to take you to King's Cross in a few hours. The Hogwarts express leaves at exactly 11 o' clock."

I nodded and made my way upstairs. I stood in front of my mirror, thinking. I got my Hogwarts acceptance letter just last month. I still remember that day crystal clear.

"Honey, you've got mail!" Mummy hollered from downstairs, her voice echoing through the halls.

I ran down the stairs, curious as to who or what would be sending me, a mere 11 year old, mail. I snatched the letter from mum's grip and held it in front of me. In beautiful green ink, the front said:

Y/N Tedel
718 Ginger Road, Kensington,
London W8

The letter was sealed with a mysterious, ancient-looking red wax seal with a small design on it. I opened it in wonder and with each letter I read, my jaw dropped lower.

Dear Ms. Tedel,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.
Yours sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall

"I'm a what?" I gasped to myself

Mum took the letter and shrieked a piercing shriek. "You're a witch!"

I felt a sensation, a kind of energy spin around me. The chandelier above us started making a tinkling sound. I had magic.

I sighed, remembering the odd, but memorable memory. I put on my red jumper and my black skinny jeans, pairing this with my favorite worn out pair of boots. I packed a few more jumpers into my trunk before hauling it to the entrance of my room for Quincy to take down. I gave myself one last look in the mirror before embarking on my new journey and left my room that I wouldn't be in for the next few months.

The bustling crowd of people urgently trying to get from place to place surrounded me. It was easy to lose mum. I'd have to turn around every five seconds to make sure she was still behind me. I held my tucked firmly between my index finger and thumb as I staggered through the train station. 9 3⁄4? How do I...

CRASH

I bumped into someone, didn't see who but he didn't sound pleasant when...

"Ouch!" Snapped the person, "Watch where you're going next time!"
