School sure got more interesting now that Jake wasn't being bullied anymore, he was however, suspended after his fight with the other boys and was very nearly expelled and imprisoned in the county's juvenile delinquents detention facility, but when the cops came to investigate, and they heard all the stories about Jake being bullied over the years, they took it upon themselves to congratulate him... quietly of course.
Jake was elated. He spent the remainder of the school year partying with new friends and took delight in scaring the shit out of Jeremy and the goon squad whenever they crossed paths.
At home Jenny was getting along with Draga and was also not getting scared to death when Jake would use his powers to get food from the refrigerator. She was however getting more concerned with Jake and his new found hobby. She found out one night that he would dress in the most ridiculous orange and blue ninja costume she'd ever seen to fight "bad guys". And when she begged him to stop going out, for fear of him getting hurt or worse, he would reply
"I have these amazing powers sis" while demonstrating by making the coffee table levitate.
"What's the worse that could happen?"
And then they would get in an argument, which would delay him but only for a little while.
One night Jenny finally stopped arguing with him when Jake snapped at her stating that his reason for " playing hero" as she would put it, was to avenge her parents death, after which he stormed out of the house.
Jenny cried and eventually decided that Jake was big enough to make his own decisions, but if she was going to allow him to do that she decided to do it the right way, starting with that god awful Naruto cosplay costume he wore, that just HAD to go.
Two nights later before Jake left for his night of crime fighting, Jenny called him to her room, when he got there he was surprised to see a black ninja suit laying on the bed, with all sorts of accessories beside it.
"What's all this?" asked Jake in surprise.
"This, dear brother, is your new crime fighting outfit complete with "ninja mask, scarf, swords and other accessories" replied a smiling Jenny.
"What the hell's gotten into you Jen? asked Jake
"First you tell me not to go because it's too dangerous, now your telling me to go AND you're giving me WEAPONS!"
"Don't worry Jake their not real, but they are pretty well built and should be able to do some damage if needed". said Jenny matter of factly.
Jake being the stubborn guy he is, was still furious at her for always treating him like a baby so he decided that he wasn't going to let her off so easy.
"Anyways I already got a costume" he mumbled.
"No no no, you don't that is the stupidest thing I've ever seen, you don't even have a mask, how do you expect to keep your identity safe from all your enemies, from cops who are going to be looking for you because you're now a vigilante, from the news reporters who are going to blame you for whatever damages you will cause, have you even thought this through?" screamed Jenny in frustration.
"Fine, I'll wear the damned suit, jeez you don't have to be such a drama queen".
Jake took the costume of the bed, teleported to his room, took his Naruto costume off and got dressed in the black (Ninja Gaiden like) costume.
Looking at his reflection in the mirror Jake couldn't help but feel "bad ass" and was immediately pumped to go out on his patrol, subconsciously he felt "tough", he felt confident, more confident than he'd ever felt in his whole life, it's almost like the suit gave him an alter ego, one "Bad Ass" alter ego, that reminded him of Mr Bad Ass himself The Dark Knight.
